Brett had a great chance to score a try from deep in his own half on Friday night but obviously got caught by Halpenny. Is this justification of bretts decision to retire next year as he seems to have lost that pace over 50/60m or was it it good positional play from the wakey fullback? Any comments?
Bit of both I think. The full back was back deep enough so he didn't have to cover a great deal of ground to get close to Dallas as he would have done had Dallas gone past him in the line.

However maybe a season or two ago that still would not have been enough to catch Dallas.

Has been mentioned elsewhere, but I think credit has to go to Halpenny for good positional play. Brett showed great pace to break the line and pull clear. So shows he still has it. Halpenny didn't commit himself until Dalls did which was text book fullback play. In a flatout race I'd still put Dallas in the top 5 in the league.

There wasn't any support...I think he did the right thing - it was early in the tackle count, as I remember, even if we hadn't got the penalty.

I agree, it's a bit of both. The full-back was in a good position, but i still feel that Dallas at 26 or 27 would have scored that try.

I think he has lost some pace; but don´t you think he´s a lot tougher and more resilient now?

is that why they are leaving his head alone and not trying to spoil his good looks?

Well probably because that's ruined and they don't want him to turn into Robocop if he turns any more metallic! :D

Dallas lost some pace but Halpenny is a fast player IMO.
