The Warriors Experience

Sorry if this threat has been done before, you'll have to forgive me

Just wanted to see what everyone thought about their owe experiences at the JJB on match days. This is my second season really following the warriors, untill then I didn't have a clue about them.

Though my following might have started off as a way of having something in common with my now current boyfriend, I have to say I love the sport now.

The whole crowd experience is brillant, cheering the lads on when they need it and feeling the loss when we lose. Yet, no matter what we still offer our support to the lads.

If anything I'm have to say that the Warriors fans have got to be one of the most passionate in sports that I've meet

Whats everyone's best memories of the Warriors?

I have a lot of good memories of rugby both on and off the pitch. I have met some nice people and had some brilliant days out. But i have some good memories of games. Two that stick out in my mind are the CC final in 2002 and the last game at central park for the obvisious reasons. They were both brilliant days all round. I also have memories of games such as Bradford this year with the fog and when Pat Richards ran through the fog to score.

Wigan V Manley @ Central park. Its was so full you couldn't lift your arms to cheer.

Wiagn V Wire @ Man City...Joe lydons drop goal...he seemed to be on his own 25 when he kicked it.

This match was on when city had giant bananas at thier goound, so Wigan introduced giant lightbulbs with norweb on...

Anyone else remember these or still have one.

Oh sorry by the way, but these arn't warriors memories, just Wigan RLFC..

My best memory had to be the 1st game i saw. 15th september 2000 away at stains and wigan murdered em 42-2

The 1985 CC final, even though Hanley didn't play in it.

Ferguson’s first try right in front of me and my girlfriend then (wife now). We bought tickets when we got there and ended up in the Hull side. The Hull fans treated us really well.

Also being at Wembley with my best mate mt Grandad, we went into London after the match, we hailed a taxi that took us to Covent Garden, when we got there my Grandad said to me should we book the same taxi to take us back to our hotel. I could not stop laughing to think of all the taxi’s in London and he wanted to try and book a taxi.

As a kid in the glory days all i knew was winning, wembley about 10 times with wigan and great britain, old trafford, elland road, even anfield against Penrith Panthers (i think... may be wrong). I could write a book about all the good times ive had with wigan...

But this season mostly is the loyalty. As someone said... we follow the badge

Just look at our crowds, always singing, always away from home, be it -30C at Salford or +30 at Twickenham, we're there singing and supporting the greatest rugby club ever

You are correct about Beating Penrith at Anfield, remember Sam Panapa making his debut in that game having only signed the week before

I have many happy memories having been lucky enough to watch all the glory years.

Saw the Lydon drop goal! But one game that stands out for me was the Wigan v Bradford game at central park in the "mission impossible" season.

Having to win all our games in a very short space of time at 2-18 down it looked like curtains. The Wigan fightback to draw 18-18 was amazing. We wuz robbed by Holdsworth the ref who disallowed a perfect drop goal and also when he penalised Andy Gregory for a bit of biff off the ball after he had put Skerret(?) through for a try close to the line.

The atmosphere in the Kop was unbelievable and the atmosphere we are getting at the moment at the JJB reminds me of it.

Although I can't remember much about the game as it was nothing special the fixture against Halifax Blue Sox as they were, sticks in the mind because it was a game I took my young son to when he was not very old. He remembers the Blue Sox nickname (so who says they don't work!) and it was toward the end of our last season at CP so he can say he saw Wigan on the hallowed turf.

Another memory is of Murryfield 2002. All three if us went to that, me my Dad and my son and of course we won! It was a perfect day with a good coach trip and we managed to get dropped off right next to the ground by following the team bus with police escort.

A great game and victory and waving to all the Saints fans after the match as we waited for the coach to pick us up was great fun.
