chris ashton's take out on robinson

did anyone see ashton take robinson out? if calderwood and fielden hadnt messed that try up do you think the ref would have given a penalty try because luke robinson looked like he was away after that little chip over.

I don't think it would have been a penalty try as there were men in support for us. It was definately an obstruction though.

If they had not scored hed have gone for 10 minutes. Though i do think he should have gone.

well did advantage not come into play. if so then because of a result of them scoring he didnt get sin binned. if we would have picked up the pieces i think it would have been 10 for mr ashton.

Advantage or no advantage he could have gone for 10 for a professional foul. Although scoring a try did kind of take the attention away from the obstruction.

The only time it definately wouldn't be a sin binning is if a penalty try was given, as you can't penalise a player/side twice for the same thing.

To be honest, it wasn't pretty and we couldn't have complained if he'd got 10 minutes. However, as he wasn't in the act of scoring, there would've been no penalty try.

I do think that the rules for penalty tries are too strict though. I remember a few years ago at Stains, I think it was Terry O'Connor was taken out when he was about to pick up the ball one yard from the line and no penalty try was given. They should award a penalty try if it is PROBABLE that he would've scored.

It doesn't have to be in the act of scoring, that's the criteria for an 8 point try.

I think he wouldn't of give a penalty try, but he would of give a penalty, and maybe a card
