Brian Carney!

Post by Martin Taylor »

I have just been on the Newcastle Nights website, and i noticed that Carney has scored 14 tries this season so far. I don't think he ever scored so many in his whole Wigan career. Does this not show how poor our centres have been in recent seasons! Players like Aspinwall and Vialeki to name a few have never had the class and never will have to give give good ball to the Wings. This is why it is so important that we look at capturing a top class player in this position for next season. It could be the difference between Calderwood and Richards scoring 30 or 3 tries in a season!

Don't think Carney exactly gave it his all for us anyway last season, he had a sulk on for a long time just because he wanted to be away and they wouldn't let him. Don't disagree with what you are saying but I do think Carney has a better attitude now at Knights than in the latter stages of when he was with us
Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Maybe some of that is down to a fresh start, a new adventure and a clean bill of health for the first time in a long while?

And don't forget he's playing on the outside of the world's best player Andrew Johns

The guy did pretend he was injured when he wasn’t. I remember Betts under pressure and stating that he knew Carney was not injured, he did however word it differently for the papers.

It went along the lines of : Brian now needs to decide if he is injured or not, he trains well but becomes injured on match days, it‘s now up to him!

Personally I think he disgraced himself and any doubts about him being injured are now shown in Australia. He does have a slight hamstring problem but it has not stopped him playing over there.

It did here at Wigan!

I agree entirely,it is no coincidence that Calderwood was either top try scorer or second for 3 seasons with Leeds. He had a good centre,we have had as you say Vaeleki,Aspinwall, Brown etc.Good centres make good wingers.
