In my Wigan watching career it was a total privilege to watch the following:-Hanley, Kenny, Offiah, Edwards, Gregory, Bell, Miles, Farrell, Platt, Betts, Ferguson and because he was such a character- Tuigamala, anyone who doesn't see these players as among the very best to have played this or any other game simply doesn't understand sport.

AUSSIE PLAYERS
Amongst the Aussie players, I have to say I always enjoyed watching Laurie Daley, Steve Renouf and ET (even if he were a Leeds player for a short time). I only ever saw Daley and ET on television, but they were class players. A pity we never saw the best of The Pearl at Wigan, but I was made up when he signed for us, and he was a great bloke to talk to as well.

It's always an intersting question that comes up from time to time.
As always my reply is a tie between Brett Kenny and Ellery Hanley.

It's interesting because the younger viewers will put foward Radlinksi, Farrell etc
The middle viewers like myself ususally go with the same answer as my own, but as the young people didn't see these greats, we in turn didn't see Botson, Ashton, Bolton, McTigue, Sherrington and the like...
spot on!

I did...but depite Billy being my avatar, I'd still go for Hanley (just) ahead of Boston. None of the modern-day players even come close, IMO.

Maybe not one of our best players but certianly the best impact player we've ever had has to be Sam panapa.
For a uk based player it has to be edwards or hanley and a good few years ago i was in aus watching canberra play wests the year before they entered the NRL and Meninga was an absoloute star.

I wish we had Jonah Lomu in RL. If he played as well in our game as much as Union, he would certainly be up there.

In this country, Hanley, without a doubt!
William John Boston,
The man in your picture gets my vote Geoff.
He had everything, speed, strength, side step, tackled like a demon, and could score tries from anywhere.
There was always a great sense of expectation around Central Park every time Billy got the ball. Awesome!!!

To make it a bit fairer, why not choose a player from each decade?
