And anyway, there's no way we'd have been relegated last season, we finished 23 points above Leigh! I don't think McDonald, Guisset and Botham made that much difference.
I think that releasing them before finishing the contracts and paying then off was a torid mistake.
It can only lead to a weaking of the squad and a waste of expenditure.

I thought he was a nightclub owner/dj type
He was on the board with Robinson & Rathbone, but resigned during the CP fiasco (mainly because those two had gone ahead with the Tesco deal without telling the rest of the board).
You're correct about his nightclub background, he's the one who built up the Riverside club in the 70's & 80's.
He's back at the club now, although I'm not sure in exactly what capacity.

They should never have been brought in at all, if it was known that they would take us over the cap. Nothing to do with how they did as players; Guisset was excellent for us, but we should have stuck with the youngsters.
The likes of Hargreaves, Beswick, Prescott, Tomkins could have done the job.

Dave Allen aswell. He was good for us last year IMO.
Very true, but he played 23 games anyway - I was looking at the ones who only played relatively few games.

If I cost my employers £80,000 plus the possibility of much more through my incompetence then I'm sure I would be given the option to walk or be pushed.
I don't doubt that Maurice is Wigan through and through but so am I and it doesn't mean that I would be good at the job either. People are judged on performance, ask Ian Milward!

100% correct Mike, if it would have been anyone else their feet would not have touched the front door carpet on the way out.
