To be honest Leeds without McGurie is probably better than Leeds with McGurie, so he scores tries but he never creates anything for himself, there will always be some other player there to take a pass and run. When defences don't allow McGuire any space he panics and is prone to mistakes. Also McGuire can not tackle to save his life but Sinfield can, Leeds poor form is nothing to do with McGuire being injuried as Rob Borrow is their main attacking threat anyway.

Danny McGurie is the most over rated player in super league so don't get your hopes up for nothing.
Way off the mark IMO. For some reason everytime Leeds play us he always comes up with a try and is their most dangerous runner and scares the s**t out of me!

You're entitled to your opinion, of course: but IMO he's the best stand-off in the country at present.

If not the best one of the top 2 or 3. Talent wise I would say he is the best. I actually think Tony Smith is now holding both Burrows and Maguire back. They should both have licence to do whatever they want in the opposing half whereas I feel Smith is very regimented and prefers to run plays through Sinfield. One of the key aspects though of Maguire being in the team is that it gives Leeds 3 pvots (playmakers). Now they only have 2 and a mobile loose forward has been taken out of the pack to become a slow stand off.

Well according to Opta (who take into account defence as well as attack) the best stand off at the moment is.......

DANNY ORR

Scoring loads of tries does not make someone a good player because there are other parts to rugby league as well and for one they must be able to defend with McGurie cannot do. In the Tri-Nations people said it was a mistake to leave out McGuire but do GB really need a player who can not tackle and who is only any use when other people make breaks, I would much have rather have someone who creates oppotunities.

If you think Danny McGuire is a good rugby league player then you have been listening to Stevo too much.

I still look at the half-back positions as being primarily attacking ones. It's a personal preference, of course, but I'd pick a good attacking half, who was relatively poor defensively, than vice-versa.
Orr is a much better defender than, say, Long, Burrow, Horne, McGuire, Harris or Deacon, but he'll never get near the GB side ahead of them, because they're all far better in a creative role.
