Oh and rob yep your right mate. I never like going out on a limb until I see the incident again and sometimes it's hard because like most I sometimes see what I want to believe.
Atleast you admit it, most don't.
That cuts both ways though doesn't it

I don't think he takes it out on teams... I thought he looked tired and if anything missed things he should have got.
I agree with you he did look tired. At one point an incident happened on the ball (didn't see it fully as it was in the opposite corner) and i looked to KK for a response and he was running back to the defensive line with his back to play. He obviously knew something had gone on with the crowds reaction but he was totally oblivious to what it was. Are they not trained to back peddle like players? or was he having a lazy moment and got caught napping?

I'm not sure I know which incident you are referring to but at one point he was watching their defensive line and O'Loughlin went flat on his face during the play-the-ball under what appeared to be little/no pressure and he missed it.

He should always be watching no matter where he is running, obviously this is within reason as he can only look in one place.

I don't think he could have got anyone singing his praises tonight, the offsides frustrated me whilst others were frustrated for the penalties he was giving. He could have given a lot more. However, in these conditions the play-the-ball slows down and the defensive line gets to the man a lot faster.

I was disappointed that he didn't get the captains over for a word and then threaten with the sin bin.

I don't think either coach has reason to feel hard done to with the decisions (or perhaps both should feel hard done by?). I think he allowed both teams some leeway, especially with offsides (we were off as much as them).

Sorry, have to disagree with the rest of you about the offsides. I think Berkpatricks biggest problem is that he cannot measure 10 yards. If you watch him when any play the ball is on a line across the pitch, so that it is easy to measure, he stands 12/13 yards away from the play the ball. The players line up on the 10 yard line and get penalised for being in front of him. Time and time again he did this last night. He still is a referee who thinks you go to a game to watch him and not the players, my biggest grumble with Scummings is that he made KK the referee of the year a couple of years ago and gave him a Grand Final but then Scummings was invariably poor which is why he fell out with Russell Smith, perhaps with £40k for a full time referee we can get Russell to come back from Oz and swap him for Calvin Klein.

Easy game to summarise: Huddersfield clearly came to spoil, KK let them get away with it, we got frustrated and tried too much expansive rugby instead of keeping it simple.
I'm no fan of Ganson, as you know, but he dealt with similar play (by Catalans) by sin-binning players. It worked.
As DaveO says, Huddersfield realised he was going to let them get away with it, so of course they took advantage.

At the end of the day, though, I'll take the two points (and the Wakey & Cas results) quite happily.
8th spot looks pretty good ATM.

rob i know you stick up for refs but tonight like the last home game with cats he can`t ref the ten metres or the ruck consistantly, so when the game gets messy as it will when the ref can`t do the basic`s right , you get a poor game. yes there was a lot of errors but the game as a spectacle was poor fare for the fans. i`ve never rated him full stop ,the way he reffed us versus bradford in the grand final was disgraceful.however this season he`s been really off the pace all together,he should have been demoted for at least a spell,do you agree!
I know what you are saying Mick, however, you've got some fans saying he penalised too much and others saying he didn't penalise enough. How do you get that perfect balance between letting the game flow and controlling the game? It's extremely difficult to get that balance right, especially when the conditions are bad or when you've got poorly disciplined sides.

I don't personally think Kirkpatrick got it quite right last night, I think he penalised the worst offences but he let some go too (or missed them).

On your question about demoting him, I don't think that would be a good idea. He is one of the most experienced referees we have, experience is a SL referees main strength. We could bring in the likes of Jamie Leahy but they'd only get the same treatment.

I think there are ways of getting teams to behave and creating an open game without turning the game into a stop start affair. If teams are seeking to lie offside, take them back an extra 2 or 3 yards. you then get a flowing game with both teams standing 10 apart. The play of the ball offences, after 2 he should have been upfront and said next one goes to the bin and above all follow it through. The sin bin is the best deterrent to gamesmanship IMO.

KK gives in to the appeals of the players. Catalan v Wakefield. He blew the first penalty 45secs or there about before they players hit the deck. He was waiting for it. He trashed the game before it began, As for the Wakey sin bin fir climbing round the player ever watched senior get round any other way. Rules for one, Are the refs instructed on what to watch for before the game. Watched the Wakefield game last night. Best reffed game this year. Never mind we won one with KK as referee. Put it down in the stats. HC

Ganson was the ref for that game.
