I agree, his play making and kicking game were brilliant today. He doesn't seem as "go forward" as Danny Orr, Danny seems a bit quicker to me, but that was just on today's performance. He moves the ball very quickly and rarely if ever seems to be tackled, a bit like Stacey Jones for the dragons, how many time has he had to play the ball this season? Not many.

St George hit a bad spell and naturally the media and some fans looked for scapegoats. Nathan Brown, the coach and Trent got it most. trent, leaving Aus etc is a very easy target.

Today v Wests he showed just how good he is. That Gasnier bloke aint bad either and that was Huddersfield new signing that he kept running past/through.

No. He has to be behind Lockyer, after that 3rd State of Origin Thurston as well and if truth were told probably Leon Pryce the way he is playing for Stains.
Sorry Ian, to put pryce in the same class as barrett is a joke (wich i hope it was a joke) Barrett is streets above Pryce, in the words of the old lady on the Catherine Tate show "what a f-----g liberty".
I don't normally disagree with what you say Ian but boy this time have you got it wrong.

Watched the same game. Gasnier is a world class centre would love him at Wigan. Trent Barrett had a fantastic game. When i went to OZ we went to the Suncorp stadium and watched the broncos and cowboys game it was an amazing experience. Also watched ozzie rules but was left very confused! :doz:

Flash the Wests game backs up what you say. Gould is constantly harping on that the St George forwards simply need to make the hard yards, complete their sets and get field position. He reckons they should adopt a wet weather mentality no matter what the conditions and if they do so the backs will do the business.

Johnny Raper has had a right go at Trent Barrett. however, whenever people do so they keep harping about him leaving for Wigan so you can tell what their motive is and that they are upset o see him go which tells you an awful lot.

No joke, just my own view I've not seen him in many games, but in the game v wests he didn't seem to try and break through the line. His kicking game was awesome and his passing brilliant, but he didn't make any runs through the defensive line like Orr has been doing since Noble came to Wigan

It's not usually a good idea to base your opinion on just one game though. For the record Barrett is regarded as one of the best in the world at taking on the defence. In fact a lot of the criticism currently being levelled at him is that he isn't doing it enough. The thinking is that he should be less of a team player, be more selfish and be more concerned about making himself look good and less about worrying about the rest of the team. In the end that would result in him being more dangerous to the opposition. That may be so but I for one find it a strange accusation to level against someone; that he is a team player....especially when that player is the captain! Anyway, that's another discussion altogether, so I'll leave it for now. For those of you not too familiar with Barrett he is also regared as one of the best defensive halves in world rugby. My own opinion is that he is currently the best in the NRL.
Agree totally, every game i have seen him play in he has been superb, some of the passes he has put out to the centre/wing men have been nothing short of brilliant, i think the only people that have got bad things to say about him are fans from other clubs, i wonder what they would have to say if he had signed for them?? it would make interesting reading don't you think?
