I saw it, what a load of rubbish.

Have Saints ever won the World Club Championship at the Australian teams home ground ... thought not!!

Have Saints ever contributed the whole pack of the Great Britain team against Australia ... hmmmm not as I can remember!!

Come back when you've done that and we might start considering then.

Yes i was going to mention this. I thought their comments were very arrogant and smug but then again do you expect anything else! I dont think they understand the word " Professional".

To be honest the current Saints side is one of the best club sides I've ever seen, look with your eyes and not with your heart, they're a brilliant rugby team and could certainly mix it with the dominant Wigan sides.

I wasn't as fit or strong as before but my two biggest muscles still worked - my heart and my head - Kris Radlinski.

Sorry but there is no comparison. Only two sides stand side by side for continued success and they are Wigan in the 80s/90s and St George in the Raper, Gasnier, Clay era of the 60's.

Saints have struggled to put 2 consecutive years of domination together and have shared this period with Bradford and Leeds. Are they a good team. Yes, they are. Very good. However, they would not get near the great Wigan team with Gregory/Edwards and Hanley in the pivotal positions.

Saints will IMO peak this year and decline from next season onwards. Jamie lyon is a huge part of their success. Gidley is good but not in the same class as Lyon anymore. His one remaining strength is the draw the centre / winger and backflick a pass to his winger. Sculthorpe was one of their poorest players at Twickers. He's agaeing. Long is ageing. Cunningham is ageing. hooper is virtually on his lasr
t legs. Wellens and Gilmour do not have many seasons in them.

Wigan will be up there next season. Make no mistake.

I agree all thier pivotal players are ageing you just have to see what happend to thier form when the likes of lyon and long were out of the side. Fair enough they only lost to huddersfield but they made the other games when they were missing very hard work. I can't believe any one would put them in the same bracket of the all conquering wigan team of the 80/90's. Although you have to say that even though you know they are cheating the salary cap they do seem to be dominating in a much more equal leage that when we ripped everyone to shreds.

Don't think anyone would deny that the current Saints team are a good outfit, however I don't think you can compare them to our great Wigan side.

What about the fixture backlog we had to negotiate back in 1991 to win the title at Headingley, there aren't many teams who would be able to handle 4 games in 7 days.[/quote]
