Correct. Personally, I can't wait to give Wagga a cheer when he returns in black and white next year.

i thought it was pathetic that they booed fielden, and because of this, the way that we applauded newton was highlighted last night and in my opinion we put them to shame.

and i thought it was very good of brian noble to clap the bradford fans at the start of the game, and good of them to clap him too.

It's small minded and happens in football all the time even when a player has given good service and it was the club's wish to sell.

Perhaps the Bradford fans would rather they'd gone bust instead!

It had the opposite effect to the one they probably wanted, though. Haven't seen him as fired up as that since his first game for us!

I actually understand the Bradford fans... there are a lot in our crowd (myself included) who boo players who used to play for us, except if they're absolute legends.

Big difference, though...Long hardly played for us; Fielden was at Bradford nearly 10 years. I would have thought he'd earned their support, whatever the conditions behind his leaving.
Also, it's Saints! They were booing Platt & Connolly years after they came to us.

Exactly, Kevin Brown was booed when we played huddersfield. Unfortunately its crowd mentality. I dont agree with booeing ex players. Rugby league is a sport but also a business. For many players they only have a shelf life of 10 years in professional rugby and need to secure their futures finacially. Therefore when they make deals with clubs and get offered better money its only natural for them to go after the money. Fielden had served Bradford like Noble for a long time and decided it was time to move on. Good on them!
