I just noticed that the consensus of this message board is that Danny Orr should be dropped for the Wakefield match and replaced with Kevin Brown.
There are only 6 votes for the team that should play, and other users could change this.
My personal view is that Orr should be given a longer run - after all the next few games count for nothing as long as we get into the play-offs, unless you think we can get into the top 2.
When the run in to the playoffs approaches we should consider whether Orr has reached the standard we require.
I'm quite confident he will make it. I've seen flashes of good play and they are getting more frequent. I would give him more time....

The thing is though the subject of Danny Orr being dropped was brought up quite a while ago (around the time of getting beat by Hudds away). At the time the majority were saying to give him longer as Farrell was now back and and Cass the week after so he'd start to fit in. Then it was wait for Lam to return and he'll get better, then he didn't shine when you'd expect him to against his old club where he had everything to prove and he had a poor game I thought. Then he failed to impress in the Cup Final too.
I agree that he has had a few flashes of how well we know he can play, the one that sticks in my mind was a run he made against Warrington (I think) at the JJB. He's made a few intelligent kicks and little passes too, however, IMO they have been very few and far between.
I think Wigan 'can' make the top 2 and certainly shouldn't be aiming for anything less. Our aim is to win Super League and if you finish out of the top 2, as we have seen, you are too exhausted to beat a team with an extra two weeks relax and preparation.
I don't think any SL games count for nothing, they are all as important as each other, at the end of the day they add up all the 2 points and the more you have the higher you finish, no matter who you beat to gain them!
No matter how great a reputation a player has for himself, no matter how much you pay for him, no matter how good he can play if they don't perform you need to change something until they do. I think that rotating the players a bit forcing Orr to fight for his place may help him and take some of the pressure of him which may allow his confidence to build. Talk of getting rid of him altogether is rediculous but something isn't right at the moment!

If you did that to Orr then you'd have to do it to others as well. Then we'd be left with a team of Newton, Brown, Rads and Dallas because I haven't seen any of our other first team players performing like these 4 have week in week out.
I've always said that I agreed with the fact that Orr hasn't been playing at his best but I also think that we can't just single him out. A lot of players that you would expect to play at their best such as Terry O, Lam and Faz (ones with experience) have been, in my 'onion'...under performing.
I'm not sure why Lam and Orr haven't clicked yet, we had the same problem with the team in 2002 I think with Julien O'Neil and Jamie Ainscough etc, something just didn't work. This time we were all hopeful in Orr and Lam providing us with some good play regularly and it hasn't happened yet. Then again if you watch the players in training before a match do you see Lammy and Orr together at all? I've not seen it any other week but watch them on Sunday and see if theres any change, they really need to start working together.
If we want to get into the top 2 we have to play as a team like we did last year, ok so we didn't win the Grand Final but that was down to lack of experience and a very bad bad decision to leave mr pryce on the field...GRRRRR. However, I'd much rather watch the team play like they did in the middle and towards the end of last season because it was unpredictable, creative and most importantly they were playing as a team. Can't say I've seen much team work this year to be honest.

Some players haven't played fantastic week in week out but some guys have had good games and then bad games, inconsistancy, our main downfall of late, but Orr is consistantly below average.MrsLam posted:

I am starting to sound like I don't like the guy, I do, but he isn't doing it for me so far this season. Lammy is getting consistantly better game after game, Orr hasn't done. I guess consistancy is the key word!
If a player doesn't click you try summut different, you don't wait a season for a player to fall into place. What happens if it doesn't happen? You're shafted! Season over! We've got more than 13 players and more than one player for each position, there's a reason for that!
Re: Wakefield vs. Wigan: S...
I have no problem with giving Danny Orr longer to perform, but Luke was'nt given this luxury and for me somebody of Orrs experience should need less time than a youngster to show his talent.Faz and Lam have performed well considering they have not long come back from injuries and i don't think we can play as well as a team untill we get a more settled first 17.Also i think part of the problem is that none of the props have really done a lot this season, so lets hope they all come into form at the same time and finish strong.
Re: Wakefield vs. Wigan: S...
I do think that orr should be droped, he has done nothing since he arived? y cud we not give him back to cass on loan instrad of robbinson! yeah he's made one or to good kicks in a game? but for me done nothing yet! to make it worse thay got rid of brisco to make way for him? well he just dosent seem to atack to well? he will have to buck up big style to make any kind of impresion on me! sorry! am well happy that garys back! yeah def agree that we could get 2nd place,
Re: Wakefield vs. Wigan: S...
Another poor game for Danny Orr I have to say! He just isn't clicking into the team. No-one really kicked too well today but Danny's penalty kick to touch that Talipeau (I think) caught took the biscuit, he was lucky their winger didn't jump and push it into play. Farrell was also lucky with his risky penalty that just bounced into touch!
The referee controlled the game well I thought, for Wakefield. One of the worst displays I've seen in a long while, typical Russel Smith! Penalty count was a cricket score, all 50-50s went their way, Dallas playing pattercake catching it and loosing the scrum, waiting for shouts from the crowd before giving forward passes against us, incompetent touch officals... I needn't continue!
We had a poor completion rate too, a few wayward passes and one or two handling errors. At the begining of the second half we were playing one man rugby, just running at them from dummy half, no passes out wide, Hodgson and Dallas were very quiet. We had this problem at phases last season.
I thought Farrell played well today, some powerful runs at their line, breaking it several times and was unlucky on a couple of occasions not to make it over the line, but I suppose when you have four players hanging off you limbs it isn't that easy!
Well atleast we came out of it with the win, but come on Denis, now we have Connolly at centre we can afford to play Brownie at stand off!

Re: Wakefield vs. Wigan: S...
Orr did put a pass out for a try and a nice little kick into touch to waste a bit of time near the end

I think Danny Orr had one of his better games for us against Wakefield. That little step he did for Browns try was brilliant.
