these 2 will be good in union i think because they both have size to them. id see lion as a centre in union and karl as more of a number 8 or a flanker.

Dai I think that is true in a very small minority of cases. The bottom line is that money talks. I mean take Karl Pryce, he's finally going to get his first big contrct wherever he goes. For all he knows this may be his last, injury may curtail his career later, he has little or no security at this stage in his life. If somebody offers him £10,000 PA more that is still very important.

I think for the players you mention it probably is the new challenge etc but for young players like Pryce I think its definately the money talking.DaiJones posted:
Opposed though I am to the salary cap, is it not just the case that players who switch codes often just want a fresh challenge and a bit of fame and has nothing to do with money (e.g.Faz and Jason) ?
The only thing RL can do to stop it is get richer as a whole, sort out its international side which means putting in measures to imporve the GB side and make sure young GB RL players have a chance to play for clubs and not give jobs to Kolpak signings.Jason Robinson is now a national figure rather than someone who is fairly well known in about four northern cities and a bit of Australia, it's going to become a much bigger problem I think and unlike when the player drain really kicked in in Welsh rugby union in the late 80s/early 90s there will be no obvious way to stop it
It is a long term thing but I think far too many people just don't see the international side of the sport as that important anymore and have given up on it.

Yes it is but the RFU do a nice side step (the only one you will see on a Union field)m around that by funding half the salary of turncoats like Farrell, Paul and Robinson themselves leaving the likes of Saracens Sale and Gloucester to only pay half of the players salaries under their cap.Matthew posted:
