listened to 55 mins on the radio before i gor fed up have the video refs been told to disallow all wigan tries passed to them.Another gripe how can a ref from merseyside referee a team from that area would you get a ref from tranmere refereing a liverpool v man u game i think not.

Re: Just watching this deb...
I only heard the first half on the radio 1 down at the end of the first half i knew it wouldnt be good. The play sounded awful, couldnt get out of our own half, sounded like connelly did well and sounded like his experience helped us. But all in all looking at the score very disapointing i dont think betts was to blame it just sounded like the team were poor
Wigan til i Die !!!!

I didn't see or hear the game, thanks to a colleague retiring from work, but I've got to comment on the choice of referee. It's one thing not letting a ref be in charge of a game from his home town, but you can't ban a ref from an entire area because there aren't that many referees! I'm not defending Ganson for a minute but he's already restricted in that he can't referee a Stains game. If you then say he can't to Warrington or Widnes then you start to run out of games! To be honest I don't think any of the current refs are biased, but they may well be incompetant and inconsistent and that's a totally different issue.mackie posted:

Re: Just watching this deb...
I feel that Ganson is incompetent in every game he referees, not just us.
I'm more bothered by the video referees. Other sports point to Super League as an example of how reviewing decisions can work. Are they kidding????
I estimate that a quarter of video ref decisions are incorrect, and you need to bear in mind how many are referred to them unnecesarily. Our final try has to be the worst one yet.
Tonight's farce comes hot on the heels of the Cup final decision, and the Stains have won two grand finals on wrong video ref decisions. I don't know about anyone else, but i'm still fuming 4 years on about that one Tommy Martin conned in the last minute at the JJB.
In none televised games, it is far rarer to feel that the two in goal officials have made a mistake. It's alright for Stevo to joke about losing his house on these decisions, but teams are losing big games to them and it's solely to a gimmick for the benefit of the company that employs him.

Re: Just watching this deb...
i think we lost without the help of the ref or video ref last night.. what a shambles..!!!
that might have been the worst first half i have seen for quite some time.
agreed some of the calls ganson gave were outragious,& woods 3rd try was a disgrace to any decent video ref out there... it was CLEAR that the black padded arm of wood pushed the ball forward before o`loughlin got anywhere near it.
if there was any continuity on his part he would have given hocks try, and levelled things out. that could have gone either way.
he got tickles no-try correct however..i was just bemused how every wigan try went to the screen!
connelly played ok.. but he to was ripped apart many times.. hodgey looked all out of sorts, dunno what happened to orr, but i think it was a dead leg, judging by his reaction & the way he limped off the field.. still no idea why lam was took off.. the second half we had em on the rack & needed lammy to bust em open .. even millward said we needed lam! robbo would have prob done a good job to if he had been there to replace him!! if lam`s exit WAS tactical the denis really did make a bad move.
faz was strong again, newton also.. pretty difficult to come back from 22-0 down,
you didn`t miss much fraggle mate.. be thankful u didn`t watch it!
regarding the ref and video offical,if i were wigan i would complain to the RFL.

Re: Just watching this deb...
To be honest i dont think anyone thinks that we should have won the game or is blaming the ref for us loosing. We were poor last night and nothing can change that. However has anyone else noticed how many penalties are in a non tv game and how many are in a tv game. Is it me or do they let the game flow more when it is on tv????
Also i think they should scrap the video ref and this is my reasoning.
1. In non tv games decisions are made without this aid so the ref allows or disallows the try rigtly or wrongly. However if this game was on sky it would be clearer and more likly to be correct.
so depending if you are on tv or not it could send you down or be the difference between 6th and 7th all because the tv is at a game.
2. The video ref gets a great deal of wrong decisions with as many looks as he needs so he looks stupid and still we are no better off than if we have no video.
So for me either have a video at all the games or non of the games after all sky are there videoing every match are they not
