Of the 15,000 that Latics get id guess 5,000+ are away fans.
and which games are there 5000 + home fans?

only utd, iverpool maybe. arsenal didnt sell out the north and neither did chelsea
Everton had fans in the home section because the away sold out. Blackburn of all teams took thousands instead of their normal 500 away. There will have been many ground hoppers last season who won't boost the crowds having been once.

Didn't Pompey sell out too for the game that kept them up? I'd be surprised if Man City hadn't as well.

The Latics suport is a house built on straw. People were curious and having being bored by their particular style of play, they're not returning.

oldtimer your heart is in the right place and in some respect you are correct we should all support our local team. but you are not going to get ten thousand wigan warriors fans streaming down to the jjb to support latics it simply isnt going to happen!its not even the history between the clubs and fans that prevents it.i cant speak for everyone but im sure that the vast majority of rugby fans dont like football! if wigan athletic played in my fron garden i would close the curtains! now im sorry if this offends you but thats the reality of it.

Something the old timer said in a post on page 4 of this thread struck a cord "my loyalty was tested by the team this season". I fully understand what he means, as a supporter for 40 odd years myself, and watching the team being relegated previously to the 2nd division, this season has tried my patience as well. Looking now at the situation that we found ourselves in I wonder why it took so long for the penny to drop to realise how bad we were.
