REFEREE FORGETS GUIDE DOG SHOCKER!!!

There's been plenty more worse refereeing performances, I don't think either side has really 'too' much to complain about in the way the game was allowed to flow. There were a few high tackles missed obviosuly, a late shot on Lammy and a couple of knock on's from us that Smith waved play on to. Overall though there were no rediculous penalty decisions that we so often see.

the ref was the best ref we have had for ages!he didnt go to the video after every try we scored. he let play flow and he had the courage to march stains back another 10 meters for backchat. and i cant remember the last ref to do that.yea he did miss a few things but they all miss things(most miss some common sense)but in the whole game he was fair!

I think that was a pretty poor referee performance. He wasnt just bad towards one side he was just generally bad. I dont like Ian Smith either as he always misses loads. Last year we lost 4 times at home and he was ref for 3 of those matches!

I think these things have to be put into perspective. Looking at all the refereeing displays I've seen in recent history, they've all been cr@p but some have been much worse than others. Friday's was one of the better ones, unbelievably we got the first penalty in both halves which I can't ever remember happening before. The game was allowed to flow, which I'd much rather see than Ganson blowing up for every single minor infringement whether it happened or he just imagined it. Ian Smith let himself be overruled by the touch judges, good to see them taking some part in the game, and he wasn't taking any lip from Sculthorpe. No-one would say he was a great ref, but by comparison with other refs (apart from whoever did the London walkover a few weeks ago which only had about 2 penalties for the whole game, but then there wasn't much to referee in that match!) then Ian Smith did a good-ish job.

Maybe we should all forget about the prospect of ever having a good ref, they only work in varying degrees of rubbish.

You can't really blame a referee for losing a game... on Friday though can you think of any instances where Smith made a rediculous decision? All I can think of is missed decisions which in his defence could have been to allow the game to flow. It's not often at all I defend a ref but I think he was alright and consistent which is rare.
