Danny Orr told he can leave
Re: Danny Orr told he can ...
spoke to DO at players award as far as he was concerned he has another years contract and was going nowhere, he's had a rough time but has come through in good style, I would like him to stay ,I do not want wigan to become an offshoot of the nrl, at this rate we will have more oversea's players than british this is not acceptable

Re: Danny Orr told he can ...
Exactly my thoughts. Danny would be far more effective at Hooker than Millard in my opinion. I would still like to see a starting combination of Barrat at stand-off and Orr at scrum-half! We could then maybe swith Orr to Hooker and introduce Luilui later in the game! He would be more effective when the forwards are tired and his speed and foot-work would exploit other teams!cpwigan posted:
His agent says 4 SL Clubs have been in contact. I suppose the club saying we know you still have a year to go but if you want a release then that is fine creates a situation where clubs will contact the player and the player himself has to consider his long term security.
Personally, I would much rather keep Danny and have him cover the two halfbacks and hooker than waste money on Millard.
Re: Danny Orr told he can ...
Well guys, the Observer are quoting Danny Orrs agent, Ron Hill so no I do not think this is a fairy tale story. He also revealed that when Danny signed for Wigan he did so for less money than other clubs offered.
I hope he stays and he can only be given the option to leave. He is within his rights to simply play out his final year of the contract he has. I hope he does. He would do far better at hooker than Millard. He can pass/kick better than hookers, likes to scoot. He tackles well and would give us some agility / relative speed between our huge forwards.
David Howes (agent for Steve Walsh Conditioner) says Walsh is staying at Wigan too. Mike Forshaw was being linked with his job.
Anybody know if Oliver Wilkes is still on our books? I hope we get rid if he is still so.

Re: Danny Orr told he can ...
I want Orr to stay but we have to free up more room for a goal-kicker, a prop and perhaps another winger. Orr at hooker wouldn't be a bad idea and if we do use him as cover for Higham the speed idea could take effect similarly to how Leeds used to use Dunemann.
But we must bring in a goal kicker as we saw the difference in percentage goal kicking when Dobbo took over from Richards.

Playing devils advocate for a second - both Moran and Orr both showed signs of improvement at the aend of last season only to revert to their old ways in the new season. I have been thoroughly impressed with Orr over the last half of the season but to be fair he has enough time to get it together, Im not saying i prefer luiluia but look at it this way, nathan mcavoy hardly came with glowing credentials but he turned out to be a good player, theres no telling wat noble could do with a "young" half back who would also have the guidance of trent barrett. Also I think the rise in Orr's form was more down to dobson than noble the two complimented eachother well.
I dont particully agree with what i just said like i stated more to play devils advocate but i think at wigan sometimes we have tunnel vision and dont prepare for the future you cant just go on current form, its like with richards just remember when renouf came over he took a year to get into the swing of his game thn he was electric after that. I trust Nobbys judgement he'll be looking at the future and not instant results, no-one in the league better at building a team.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure
Re: Danny Orr told he can ...
True but if you are a goal kicker you have to work and train hard on the skill as the timing of the kick of the ball is more key. While i think we should keep Richards, i meant getting another winger in the context of some cover for Richards or Calders, otherwise who next - Colbon? Perhaps Ashton switching (but then who at full back) do you get what i mean?
It's strength in depth and a flexible adaptable squad and players who can adapt to a number of positions enable covers in the areas you need to compensate more for - i.e. prop cover for feka and fielden.
Moran never won me over, but Orr for me should be kept and we need a goal kicker and a prop.

I agree. I have happily slagged Wakefield off for having so many overseas players and if we swap Orr for Lulu that is another one on the books and we will soon be as bad as them.MiThor posted:

i like danny orr he has become a player who wigan can rely on in the last half of the season. unfortunately his first half of the season performances have done him damage and i personaly think it was then the deal for leuluei was done. whealan and maurice have been watching and listening to the fans and decided they where right orr must go! maybe its to late for danny orr to stay at wigan maybe its a case of to litle to late.
