Does anyone think that Fielden might be reconsidering his offer to box that Rugby Union guy.

Gareth Hock put a big hit on Mason in the first half when Mason dropped the ball close to the line. During the match I said £1,000 to anyone who put a big hit on Mason, looks like Hock wins the money, £50,000 for anyone who flattens Mason.

Fielden has the wrong facial structure to be a boxer. His lower jaw protrudes which makes him chinny. He is actually very lucky. Boxers generally break their jaw when they are talking and get hit. Ken Norton on Ali being a classic example.

I still think that broken nose was caused in a later tackle. The punch was on the chin hence he went down. A punch on the nose hurts but does not have concussive qualities.

It's been reported that Mason broke Fieldens nose with that punch (i thought he caught him on the jaw?).
It also states that Mason will face the panel on monday with a charge of "punching the Wigan prop".
I hope he gets the book thrown at him.

Mason is extremely overrated. He has trouble holding the ball, doesn't use his size, and never runs at anyone who's more than half his size. I was at the game last night and there were plenty of people giving it to him, including Aussies, over what he did. It was disgraceful. As for the guy defending himself, he wasn't even given a chance, he was hit before he had the chance to turn to face him. That's how Willie is, he would never take on someone who had half a chance. Yet he has the hide to make a big deal out of the Kidwell hit which was perfectly legal. Mason should've been sent off. I wouldn't count on him being suspended, but if he is GB might want to watch out next time they play Australia as they may put someone in there who can actually play

I know this comment was probably directed at the Australian players but being an Aussie i do have to stick up for us. Mason, in no way, represents what we are like. Sure there are people like him around but there's also some very nice people who don't agree with that sort of behaviour. Some of the Aussie players even said after the game that Mason was an idiot for what he did (and that's putting it in nice terms. So there are plenty of decent Aussies. Unfortunately sometimes a few bad eggs destroy the reputation, much like the GB supporters sitting in front of us were trying very hard to do to you guys (and girls).

im getting a funny feeling that fielden may have gone down purposely. look at his reaction. i think he may have gone down to try get mason sent off. sure it was a huge hit and that but i think there could have been a bit of acting going on. well done to long and i think we should also say well done to jamie peacock who shrank mason's head down to it's normal (rather large size). mason wasnt throwing many punches when peacock had a go.

Definitely a generalisation that has no basis in truth. There are plenty of British players who are well-known for putting in dirty shots, Terry Newton and Adrian Morley probably being the worst in recent times, before that the likes of Barrie McDermott not too long ago. Most teams have some kind of "enforcer", a strong-arm player who likes to throw his weight around. For the Aussies it used to be Gordon Tallis, not it's Mason. I personally would rather see players trying to play rugby, throwing the ball around with skill rather than trying to win by flattening the opposition, but to suggest any one nation is worse than any other at this kind of thing is not really on. And it's certainly not a reflection on the Aussie people - anyone visiting any Accident and Emergency unit in the UK on a Saturday night will see plenty of people who've celebrated their night out with a punch up but I don't think we're a nation of thugs either...
