If it's anything like the one across from the City of Manchester Stadium at Eastlands, then I would say yes. By the time you've got in the carpark there you've been past about 15 signs telling you that parking is not available for football parking and warning you that your car will be recycled and turned into a shopping trolley if you don't comply.cpwigan posted:
I used to park on the AWay day car park BUT I found out last year that if I parked behind the East Stand I could get away quicker. The only time I found it problematic were the rare occasions they did not make both lanes one way after the match.
If you park on Asda are you not risking being clamped / fined?

Re: Match Day Parking
I normally park on car park 4 (or whatever, closest to B&Q and the footbridge), I get there 2 hours early on match days so I can get a space where I can drive straight off. That for me is the best carpark because it seems all the traffic queues up past ASDA/police station and follow official signs towards soccerdome for parking, whereas that carpark is accessible via the road to B&Q and so is not very popular, empty roads to JJB.
anyway... traffic has to be sorted in and around wigan pier's 1 way system. The amount of times a bus driver has nearly rammed my car because i got into the bus lane 20 metres early is ridculous. If we have a 17,000 crowd game for 8pm Friday... the roads are blocked at 5.30-6pm because of rush hour traffic also.
i do not have a point come to think of it, im just moaning.

Why not join us in the SS bar after the match.
You get to have a pint (eventually), see the coaches MOM, win the raffle and then straight out of the carpark without the queues!

Re: Match Day Parking
Hi thanks for all your replies. I have been in contact again with the stadium today, The chap told me that all car parks will be tarmacked by March next year and that anybody using the car parks will have to pay. He said that upto now the charge will be around £4.50 per match. He said that all stadiums charge for car parking on match days. The car park behind the east stand is for executive parking & is the most secure car park for the stadium, well according to him.

Re: Match Day Parking
I'm getting fed up with this.
I'll see if the club will clarify exactly which carparks will be chargable.
Typical isn't it. Offer a wonderfull deal on season tickets and then take back on the parking!

Lets not forget the "wonderfull deal" is partly because we are losing a home match for the cardiff trip.

If the fixtures are still to be announced, it could be an away game we are losing (as in at another SL ground)! :conf:

Hi Guy,
Thanks for your email.
The only confirmation we have at this stage is that car park 3 behind the East Stand has been refurbished with designated spaces and security measures and will cost £35.As yet no decisions have been made on the other stadium car parks, as soon as we have news we will post the details on our website for you.
With regard to the car park you use it is owned by the council so we are unaware what their plans are for 2007.
Regards
