Tonga were a disgrace they should have all been sent off it was nothing more than an assault.
Did anyone hear what Bill Arthur said...talking about Chris Ashton he said.." He will have Mick Withers for company next season"
Anyone know of any news about that? Do Sky know something we don't?
yes i heard him say that
Its the worst kept secret in the game. Along with the Leuluai one.

The end 20 minutes, tonga lost it. not good to see 6 tongans surrounding an england player in the final minutes on the floor...............

Did any body see what was going on in the corner of the pitch while this was happening? 4 other of the tongans players surrounding Calderwood, pushing and shoving him, having a right good go at him and Calders was also on his own. Ref didn’t see this as he was sorting the other incident out.

After the game i waited and spoke to "our" players, however when the Tongans came out we all looked at them in disgrace and they knew it!!!

Well Done England :D :D
This happened right in front of were I was, and what annoyed me more was a man behind me shouting 'Keep running Calders, you girl, run away!', and other words to that effect. I turned round and shouted 'It's 3 on 1 for **** sake'. Couldn't believe it.
........and on the 8th day, God made Wigan Warriors!

I thought that considering the fiery circumstances that Silverwood had a fine game.

I believe by dishing yellow/red cards like Silverwood did this afternoon, is the only way to make the players learn and understand that the referee is the boss and what he says goes.

I thought Ashton had a fine game though. On cherry and white, they are taking him to pieces - because of his defence. He's only 19/20 for goodness sakes, he will learn.

He was pretty poor, possibly on the worst games I've seen from his short career. He desperately needs to work on his defence if he wants a GB shirt at any point, it was awful today at best.

I don't want to criticise too much though, he showed his class going forward again and I'm still convinced he'll become world class.

I wasn't as fit or strong as before but my two biggest muscles still worked - my heart and my head - Kris Radlinski.

It was because the ref lost control that the game ended up with a massed brawl.
Mind you the touch judge our side was useless. About 5 minutes from the end there was a blatant attack to Calderwoods head and the touch judge was right on the spot and only about 2 feet away. He did absolutely sod all.

All in all, another failed competition from the RFL. Good for the youngsters to get some experience, but what was the point of the competition? Moreso, where was everyone? 2 stands shut to the general public, just over 3000 at the final.
There was a bloke outside had 3 spare tickets and couldn't even give them away!!!!!
Just hope the Cardiff gimmick doesn't have a similar attendance. A big ground that will look woefully empty if they are not careful, 74,500 capacity is going to be hard to fill.

Sorry but the referee is not to blame. Tonga lost the plot. He tried everything he could to keep them within the spirit / rules of the game. How on earth is a referee supposed to stop whackos.

As predicted by Guy I shall defend Silverwood. He had a very good game in the circumstances. The Tongan's didn't take heed of Silverwood's warnings and he did the right thing in warning them, getting the captains, sin-binning and giving red cards.

How would you have suggested he improved his performance?

It's a serious point Rob. Referees can get better and try to minimise mistakes in the game BUT nobody can be held responsible (only the players) when a group of players decide they want to fight come what may.

Watching four or five men having a go at one man on the floor is funny :eh:
Sorry mate not in my opinion, maybe you should start watching boxing or ice hockey or something.
They are animals as far as i'm concerned, i understand that sometimes things can get a bit nasty but not to that extent.
