If true... What a complete and utter idiot!

I wonder what punishment he'll get this time if proven to be true?

Just been on R5Live that the team were being taken into a meeting to explain then there will be a press announcement.
The gambling story has an Aussi source allegedly but Dave Oakes on radio said other reasons could be cos Longs partner is heavily pregnant (I smell a cover up!) or the fact he was 'drunk and obnoxious' yesterday in defiance of an alcohol ban ...
Seeing as I find him obnoxious most of the time he must have been very drunk!

If it is gambling then the guy has some very serious problems to deal with !
And its not doing RL much good when we should be riding high whilst the other lot are in despair over their 6 losses on the bounce!

(just been on - its 'personal reasons' ... read into that what you will.... )
Brian Noble going to make statement later...

We should probably wait for the verdict on this one. It could well be a trouble with his wife's pregnacy. It doesn't seem to make much sense why he would gamble on a tri-nations match, i mean ok he's done it before but he is interested in playing in the NRL and the only way he would achieve that is playing well at international level. The drunk issue is a more plausable scenario, and if he has broke the rules then he doesn't deserve to be in the side, however im gonna hold judgement till we know more.

if it is for betting on matches,i hope he knows he is letting the whole of GB down.i wonder if he will be treated like a certain footballer was when he got the blame for getting us knocked out of a world cup.nothing more than the idiot deserves.

A team statement said Long, whose partner is heavily pregnant, had returned home "for personal reasons".

But the BBC's Dave Woods says there are allegations that Long broke a team alcohol ban on Sunday.

But Woods said he was "99%" sure that those allegations were incorrect

Brian Noble says that his departure is NOT due to gambling.

Well the RFL will have a tough time disciplining Long because and I quote from the RFL press release:

"The player Sean Long has left the Great Britain training camp based in Manly Australia and has returned home to the UK for personal reasons."

The personal reason is apparently because his wife is heavily pregnant so I think given this is the official line people should be very careful of accusing Long of anything.

Was he 'drunk' with alcohol or something else?

I'd agree with that. To everyone: please be advised that rumours, allegations about ill-discipline etc need to be carefully considered before you post on here; potentially libellous comments will be removed at the discretion of the site owner and moderators. Anything supported by a valid source should be ok, but anything you report "from a friend of a friend" might have to be removed incase the lawyers are reading...
