I think the point is he was not strict enough early enough. The fact it got down to what it did in the last 20 mins was because what had gone before had not been dealt with severely enough.

I have seen this happen at all levels of the game in RL and RU. If the players have no respect for the ref they will carry on with their foul play. So repeated offences despite warnings are a sure mark the referee was not in control of the game.

They are animals as far as i'm concerned, i understand that sometimes things can get a bit nasty but not to that extent.

I like it when there is fighting... i love it when there is kicking off in my game... it makes you want to win it even more!

I like a scrap between 2 known scrappers e.g the old Mcderrmot vs Feilden kinda of thing, but i hate to see players who aren't interested in fightin caught up and picked on. Our game is a gentlemens game not a thugs game prove your hard by hittin hard and fair, not by being dirty, any numpti can hit someone it doesn't prove your hard

Yes i can understand were you are comming from... i am a forward, thats why i like the fighting side of it... the front row and forwards stick up for the team mainly.

...but he was strict with what went on early on. It is no fault of Silverwood's if the Tongan's don't take heed of his warnings. He penalised them many times for messing about at the play the ball and for high tackles and eventually sinbinned a player.

At this point the majority of sides get the picture and sort their act out. However, the Tongan's didn't and Silverwood had to sin-bin another player.

Did they get the hint then? No... so when they start, yet another fight he sends two players off.

Try refereeing a game when all the two sides want to do is fight and you will see how difficult it is to referee, it's a nightmare.

I'm a teacher. It is rare but on some occasions somebody I have taught has taken drugs. You have zero control over them. Even the odd lunatic child, you have very little control over. Your all householders, a group of youths start acting up outside your house. How easy is it to deal with? We are talking children.

27 adults all bigger than the norm. How is a referee expected to stop 6 or 7 going psycho.

In a hastily-arranged disciplinary hearing, Haumono was found guilty of "running in" and fined £350.

Falomaki was found guilty of striking but the three-man panel decided his red card was sufficient punishment.

Haumono will be free to start the 2007 Super League season with his club Harlequins.
