Kelly sacked

Seems a bit harsh to me! They're safe from relegation and could at least have given Willie Peters a chance to help turn them round.

Unfortunately this is no surprise but not good I like Neil Kelly and think they should have stuck with him but all the best to him lets see who gets in there now as coach as not too many knocking around at the moment.

Possibly he was warned after they got snotted by Hull that another repeat and he'd be out on his ear.

when he won manager of the year he got all the credit. and now when things go wrong he takes all the blame thats the way it goes!its no use blaming players he had half the season to sort something out if there not good enough they shouldn't be playing!sorry mate ask steadman formely cas coach, there is no room for sentiment. good luck in your next venture.

I feel a little sorry for him but at the same time, sacking him implies that it was something widnes did yesterday rather than the good play that wigan had.
Wasn't it around this time last year that we played widnes, lost the game and stu raper was sacked?

hello everyone - i'm a newbie...

i do think it's a shame that kelly's been sacked, i like him, but i reckon he's just not got the respect of his players anymore. There's a split in the camp at widnes and it shows.

I'm not sure they're exactly safe from relegation yet tho, think they'll need to beat cas twice before they can relax.

I wish kelly well for the future but i think widnes need a coach that can get them back as a team. I know chris anderson's name's being mentioned a lot...what do you think??

I can't imagine Chris Anderson at Widnes, there is also talk of him going to Cardiff RU, where I'd have thought there was more money for him!?

Widnes are a funny side, one week they get destroyed by Hull, the next they beat Warrington. Then they hold a spirited fight-back against Bradford and get stuffed by us.

It does seem that Kelly may have lost the respect of the players and perhaps the board gave him a warning earlier on in the season. What the players need is some confidence and a coach that can regain some team spirit, there aren't really many options open at the moment. Unless their caretaker coach performs like our very own Mike Gregory.

I think a new coach there will need to have a little clear out of all the dead weight and those that consistently perform badly or else as chez-wigan says they'll be down there battling to survive with Cas and London.

I'll break the mold here. I didn't like the bloke. An opinion mostly formed by his teams brutal tactics on Widnes' last 2 visits to the JJB.
