if i were coach my pre match talk would go something along the motivational, inspirational lines.
"er, i don't know what to say really. 5 minutes, till the biggest battle of our professional lives all comes down to today, and either we yield as a team or we're all gonna crumble. inch by inch, play be play, till we're finished. we're in hell right now gentlemen, believe me. and, we can sit here and get the sh*t kicked out of us OR we can fight our way back, into the light. we can climb outta hell. one inch at a time. now i can't do it for you, im to old, i look around and i see these young faces and i think, i mean, i made every wrong choice a middle aged man can make. i aaah, i p*ssed away all my money, believe it or not. i chased off, anyone who's ever loved me. and lately i can't even stand the face i see in the mirror.
-clears throat-
y'know, when you get old in life, things get taken, that's part of life. but you only learn that, when you start losin' stuff. you find out, lifes this game of inches, so's rugby. because in either game, life or rugby, the margin for error is so small, i mean, one missed tackle and the opponent gets away from you, one half second to slow or to fast, you don't quite catch it, the inches we need are everywhere around us! they're in every break of the game, every minute, every second. on this team we fight for that inch! on this team we tear ourselves and everyone else around us to pieces for that inch!! we claw with our finger nails for that inch!!! because we know when we add up all those inches, that's gonna make the f**king difference between winning and losing!! between living and dieing!!
i tell you this, in every fight, its' the guy that's willing to die, who's going to win that inch. and i know if im gonna have any life in anymore, its because im still willing to fight and die for that inch. because, that's what living is!!! there's six inches in front of your face. now i can't make you do it. you gotta look at the guy next to you, look into his eyes. now i think you're gonna see a guy, who will go that inch with you. you're gonna see a guy who will sacrifice himself for this team, because he knows when it comes down to it, you're gonna do the same for him. that's a team gentleman!
and either we heal now as a team, or we will die, as individuals, as rugby players, that's all it is. now, what are you gonna do?!"

Sack Nobby, Al Pacino for coach!
All he has to do is remind them of the history of this great club, the players who have pulled on the Cherry and White, the times we have been written off and against all odds won. Remind them that the fans want them to win but if we can see that everyone of them has given their all, fought for 80mins we will understand it wasnt our day. Each one of them must be able to look each other in the eye, know that they will go into battle and die for each other, after the game be able to look into those same faces and say there was nothing else I could do. Give us that lads thats all we ask.

by warrior till i die
here we go, get into coach mode

.....
Right boys, today is the day when we finally but this fcuking ghost of the old men behind us that is st.helens, its not a skill factor boys, i think i could put you player by player and you would match them! tommy you can run all over that old man at scrum half, the tampon will only be on the pitch for half a hour sean before he limps off with a broken finger nail!
I'd like to see us play with some passion today boys, all i need to say to you is look at the fans, look at the stick we got when we got trounced in cardiff, do you want them to get on our back boys??? i want to see you playing for each other and not switching off after 60 minutes like we usually do! you need to have faith in yourself which will knock the fcuking stuffing out of these tw@s
On to the game plan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and then id walk out and leave them for a minute!

Noble enters:
"right lads, its time to put humpty dumpty back together again, i mean we all know we have had too many spoons when what we really need is a fork, so say a grandmas pie is only as good as the gravy its cooked in, but i wanna paint a bridge today and i think we are good value for a dip in the ocean.
The sharks are definatly scarier than the dolphins and we all know you poke a lion and you get your hand bit, but i think what we got to do know is roll up our sleeves and put our shoes on cos you dont get back on the horse without a saddle.
so thats it lads as they say talking is just an excuse for not acted everyone clear what they have to do?"
this is met with 17

physco thats a well good speech, its on youtube... classss

al pachino job...
mine would be somthin along these lines...
Guys, This IS the biggest game of the season,
This IS the biggest game of your proffessional careers.
This IS what being a wigan rugby league player all about,
you need to get out there you need to hold your head high throughout the full game and coming off saying i did what i could and could do no more.
So i want you to go out there infront of all those screaming fans and give 110% for a full 80 minutes
There are fans sat in those seats up there wishing they could be in your position right now, wishing it was them pulling on that jersey infront of a 25,000 people and running out.
When your out there and when you hit the wall, when your lungs feel like there about to collapse and those st helens players keep coming at you and you just wanna back off and lay down, look at your mate at the side of you and think im gunna do it for him im going to try that much harder for him...
then id show a tape of all old players saying what it feels like to be in a derby game and a what the fans think....

"Trent, seeing as you want to leave anyway, I've decided to let you go now so I can save your wages for the remainder of the season"
"Lads, due to a restructuring within our salary cap there's a massive win bonus in this one for you"
