Like a politician.

I think it's a bit of Mick Hogan's doing this.

Originally this "story" emanated from the pen of one Neil Barker of the MEN.

A greater scribe of Rugby fiction writing you couldn't find. Seriously, does no one remember his drivel he wrote in the Wigan Observer with his accusations about players partying and getting drunk on holiday prior to that infamous loss to Salford in the CC?

IICR he was forced to withdraw some accusations as some of those labelled hadn't even flown over  His days as Rugby writer for the WO were over (not that he ever used to let facts ever get in the way of sensationalism as his match reports, scorers and team line-ups were frequently incorrect)

Btw, Pat is out of contract at the end of the season. He can obviously sign for and play for whoever he chooses when that contract is "up".

Note the "story" says this:
However with Wigan keen to keep hold of the Australia-born Ireland international, Sale are ready to offer him the chance to swap codes at the end of the current Super League campaign

At the moment he is a Wigan player and talks of him going on loan or trialling with Sale are rubbish. Why would Madge want one of his players to gain full fitness playing another sport? - He is more likely to join another RL side on loan (if at all) to prove his fitness

Hope this isn't true, but it'd free up some room on the Salary cap, and Charnley has shown he's upto the job :eh:
Can't see this happening somehow. Its just Sale talking. No indication if he is interested or if they've even spoken with him.

A Sale spokesman told The Sun: "He has everything it takes to be a great union player."

You could say that about my Auntie Betty!
Of course ha has everything it takes. A Bloody Wigan shirt you mongrel.

Mentioned in th'Observer that Sale have confirmed Pat is 'on their radar'!

Best points are made by Phil Wilkinson in his 'Talking Sport' column.

Basically, GF Winner, Man of Steel, Top Try Scorer, Top Points Scorer - which club, Union or League, would NOT be interested?

Pity union seem incapable of producing & developing their own talent instead of relying on players from a different code. It doesnt say much for them when they are after a 29 yrs old guy who'se never played the game in his life before, and then takes the place of someone who has played yawnion for all their career.

At the same time it reflects well on our game - its just a pity the media don't reflect this. They just seem happy to promote union, regardless of how the entertainment level stands up in comparison to League.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mick Hogan is stoking the fires intentionally, after his acrimonious split from our club last year It was odd Ian Thorniley followed him almost immediately and imo there's perhaps some jealousy at how well the Warriors have done since he left. And now trying to wrankle us further by going for Pat?
