How does racing make the BBC more money? I am also fairly sure that it doesnt get more viewers bar the Grand National.
You are joking arnt you!!!!
They will get more veiwers on a poor race meeting than they would for any Rugby League game!

Are you just making this up or have you actually any figures to back up what you say?
The fact that Horse Racing has been in a bit of a panic in recent years about its TV figures, and indeed had a huge panic last year because Royal Ascot peaked at 1m on the BBC last year, which was half the peak for the year before which itself was only 2m, says otherwise. This is for one of Horse Racing's biggest events so I doubt its poor meetings get anywhere near this. In contrast the hardly glamorous Wakefield - Castleford tie in the last round got a peak of almost 2m in the last round of the Challenge Cup. This would somewhat contradict what you are trying to make out and certainly shows that Horse Racing is not the major TV sport that you are trying to make out.

I've a radical solution to solve this major issue.
Use the remote and turn over to BBC 2
Won't make a scrap of difference to viewing figures if on BBC1 or BBC2 :conf:

Sounds exactly like they are doing with F1 then, F1 pulls in more viewers on BBC than any other show with a regular slot and is doing wonders for BBC1(HD) viewing figures but with BBC3/4 struggling they plan to take some of the c*ap from BBC3/4 and move it to BBC1 next season then ship F1 to BBC3/4 to bump up its viewing figures by a few million.
Its just the BBC trying to justify the annual fee we all pay to them (TV license) and trying to make out the 4 channels of tripe we are getting are worth the £160 whatever it is a year we all pay, they move the high rating shows to the low viewed channels and it evens out the viewers. its nothing in the way of a stab at the show or anything, just BBC being daft. Better idea for them would be to use the £££,£££,£££,£££ they get a year in license fee's and actually make something worth watching.!!
Just hope its mirrored from BBC2 to BBC HD.

The same BBC who take good programmes off and switch channels around for their precious Wimbledon.
