I know what you mean about Joe Egan cp but it's all down to personal taste.T.Newton clearly not the best hooker but in my opinion he was full of passion and because of that reason only I chose Terry.Possibly for sentimental reasons rather than being logical. :D

:D I know

I was reading a piece on Jim Sullivan a couple of days ago. So mad :lol:

Anyhow my backline;

1). Jim Sullivan
2). Billy Boston
3). Eric Ashton
4). Split here Gene Miles/Alan Davies went for Miles
5). Mick Sullivan
6). Brett Kenny
7). Controversial but split Edwards or Ella at 7. Zip Zip

plus if we have voting on players we have seen play then we'd ignore 100 years... Ring, todd, leytham, miller - the offiah, robinson, inga and connolly of the early 1900S

I've included him (Newton) because I've based my decision on the players that I've actually seen play at the club. How many people are going to put players on the list, from a bygone era, when they've never seen them play?
Surely some of those fans are basing their decisions on the opinions of others and reports that they've read, instead of forming their own opinion of players that they've actually seen play?

Newton could be a bit of a liability, but he played with a rare passion and ran his blood to water for our club. Like I said, he was a superb passer, runner and support player. Maybe there were better than him, in the past, but he's possibly the most complete hooker that I've seen at the club in the 26 years that I've been watching, imo.

I agree with you more often than not CP, but cannot believe that you put anyone in at scrum half except Andy Gregory.
Edwards was a better all round player, but as an out and out scrum half Gregory was the best organiser and line breaker I have ever seen in British rugby league in the last 40 years.

Totally agree with you and he is the obvious 7 but if I have Kenny at 6 and Miles/Ashton as my centres I need a halfback with an outstanding kicking game so Edwards / Ella had the edge on Greg re kicking. I even thought of Lam for a kicking game.

Kenny to my knowledge never had a kicking game and that leaves only Sully kicking if I pick Greg.
