Never been a fan of him, massively over rated and a very short fuse that cost the lads the game.
Massively under rated IMO, hes a player that plays on the edge. Who never ever takes a backwards step, never intimidated, never hides in games and is a big TEAM player.

Yes it was late, yes it was a red card, but imo that should be sufficient punishment. Would i have Roby over Micky Mac not a chance, they can keep Roby we have far better match winners in our squad imo.

Couldnt have been put any better.

I just don't understand how paul wood can punch a man square in the face in the cc final and get away with it but that late shot gets a red, no consistency in the refs

Exactly BW, too many like for like incedents this season, some punished and some not.
Why did Hock get 5 matches for eye gouging, yet Abblett gets nothing for exactly the same offence. Brent Webb's late hit in the Wilcats game was much worse than McIlorum's but Webb stayed on the pitch, albeit being punished afterwards.

COme on - Mickey Mac has the potential to be a legend at Wigan. He's exactly the type of hooker you need to lead an aggressive pack. He's got a bit of edgeness in him which the coaching team need to control, but to me he looks as good as Terry Newton already and potentially better as he develops.

Mickey's form (other than of late) has been great this year. However, his 2 indiscretions against Saints (Magic weekend and yesterday) could have cost us the League Leaders Shield.

Agree. He was stupid and lost us the game last night, not that it mattered apart from bragging rights.

I’ve been a supporter of RL for over 50 years and was a player for more years than I care to remember. I love the game, it’s ferocity, speed, contact, skill and man on man contact. The players love the contact and so do the watchers. I really am sad at the way the game is being dumbed down. A late tackle! unless some part of the opponents body falls off or breaks or he doesn’t get to his feet and is clearly injured then for me it deserves at the most a penalty, this is rugby league, a contact sport. The consistency of referees decision making is appalling and I think they are appalling because they are asked to analyse the offence (was the tackle late, could the tackler have pulled out, was it high, did the tackler slip) rather than just adjudicate if an offence was committed. In my mind the sending off last night was wrong on several levels: I didn’t think it was too late nor too high, the lateness if it was late was not intentional and the tackled player contributed to the offence by losing his footing. Sky commentators are contributing to this dumbing down i.m.o. particularly Stevo’. (Why don’t they bring back It’s a Knock Out and Stevo’ could referee that). Every time that man opens his mouth it’s a criticism of a player or the game its self, every little “not standing square”, “late tackle”, “high tackle”, “dropped ball” or “missed tackle” by a “Silly player” according to him is cause for rule change, penalty or some other inane comment.
We want to see good hard competitive RL played by teams of equal numbers, the sending off of a player is the ultimate punishment and should be used as a last resort and for only the most heinous offences. Sin binning in my opinion is a great tool for referees when used sensibly and the “on report” rule should only be available after and offence has actually been dealt with to check if sin binning or penalty was in fact sufficient. The offence must be dealt with at the time in the relevant game period not some time in the future with no immediate consequences or advantage to the offended team. Micky Mac did not lose us that game, we were never going to win it not with Childs and Wilkin refereeing.
