I think he has. He played a lot 2009, 2010 and 2011 - the stats available on this site show that he played in 21 Super League games in each of those three years, so more than 75% in those three seasons. Also played in 21 in 2007. You could argue he wasn't an established first team squad member until 2007 - wasn't he part time for a while whilst he did a law degree or something?Kittwazzer wrote:I don't think he has. And even when he's not injured, you only have to look at him twice and he bleeds. I feel genuinely sorry for this lad because he has the ability and commitment but may have his dreams cruelly shattered through no fault of his own!thomo wrote:he has two big injury spells a season - i would say out of the last six season has he played more than 50% of the games?
Basically, for the reputation he has, in four of the six seasons that he has been established in the first team he has played in over 75% of Super League games for Wigan. 2008 and 2012 are the exceptions. He has played in 14 playoff games in those six years too.
Maybe his reputation isn't justified.
Fielden on the other hand is 7 years older and played in 2(?) games in the last 2 seasons. Giving him another contract would have been a gamble. Hindsight - maybe we could have kept him given the two props are down and now we only have young players behind the four left. But remember, Dudson, Mossop, Flower and Taylor aren't Super League rookies. They aren't kids who've never played the game before. 3 are internationals and the other might become one. Spencer and Crosby didn't look awful when they played last year either. Both played in notable wins away from home.
