IMO Wire had the better season because they fought on all fronts with best attack and defence. We on another hand played well below are capabilities and only shown what we are capable off in the last couple of games (last 15 mins against Leeds away too)

In 2012 we played the best rugby SL had seen in attack wise. we won the hub cap. WE destroyed teams week in week out.

But won the least prize available.

Ask a Wire fan if they want to be us tonight with the Grand Final win or them with the hub cap and 2 losing finals.

Do you not think week in week out they enjoyed the season mor than we did. Plenty in Wigan RLFC did not enjoy the season but are delighted at a GF win.

This is the only real answer, it's been a dull season with a good ending

Its been worse than dull. But season for me is decided by trophies. You can win every game lose 2 finals. Or do a Leeds (apart from last season) grind through the season and then push. That is what we did and it worked all the other sides looked gone last 20 against us last month.

In terms of trophies won, we did because as we all know we got the big prize.

Overall though I suspect watching Wire was more enjoyable for their fans than watching Wigan was for us in the majority of games despite the fact we won the same number of games.

One day soon a team will get it right. They will deliver entertaining RL throughout the season AND win the GF.
That was what I was thinking Dave.
Did we not in 2010 and 2013?

That is the irony though isn't it. I spend far more time watching Wigan in league games than I do in finals (even if we get to all three). 30 games of nothing much and in fact a lot of annoyance at dire performances means I spend most of my Wigan supporting year annoyed!

To me this says two things.

1) The best way to decide who are champs is who finished top after a home and away league.

2) If one is not allowed then we as a sport still have not worked out being the winner is not the be all and end all, to the detriment of the league. If you have a 30 game qualifier they MUST be contested full on, every round and I do not think we have that attitude in the sport.

I agree on point 1. season should not come down to 80 minutes. How many titles would Leeds have won if they had to go for it all season.

On point 2 the problem is SL has 4-5 competitive sides and the rest are cannon fodder where you can rest players if we had any not injured. Problem is not the top 5 but the rest the game is held back by the usual poor sides who continually never make top 5 or even threaten it.

Season should be decided on a league basis. But honestly Dave O none do. NRL, NFL, NBA, MLB, RU premiership. Only cricket lets it biggest prize go to teams that finishes top and that is only the county championship all others are on the day achievement in a final.

Now I know some smart bugger will say ahhhhh Football and the premier league. Well no biggest prize in football is the Champions league and to get into that you do not need to be the champions. Finishing top 4 is a good season. The problem is not the people running those sports. I know we have issues with the RFL but its not them that dictates how a season finishes. That is down to TV (SKY) companies wanting to have a final to maximise tv revenue for big games. RFL might be complicate in this but we had the premiership end of season but SKY came in and wanted 1 big game to decide it all.

For me season is dictated on what you win and due to the structure we won something that looked unlikely after the Widnes game.

Have we been as good as Wire all season. No we have not tbh Dave we have ridden our luck a lot up until the Widnes game where it deserted us. We have won games that we should have lost we played in some games so bad it made the 2006 side look fantastic (first 3 months side). Even Hull has been better than us and we finished above them.

But ask any Wire fan would they give the Hub Cap up and the 2 finals lose for the Grand Final win and the crap we have seen all season. I want to be entertained in games and the last 4 I have been. What happened before that at times almost saw the TV go through the window on more than dozen times and the threat of never going to the DW until Wane was out. But we are not the first side to do this Leeds and Bradford have had poor seasons but won the grand final.

I am not justifying what we have done all season its been the worst in so many ways at times. And you right season winners should be the team on top after the rounds are done.

Is it really that difficult of a question? Just ask the Wire players which season they would have preferred to have!!

Exactly my point.

Or ask a Wire fan.
