From Wigan's point of view it may come down to whether the club think he's worth the marquee wages he's on. If they don't then the next contract they offer him will be reduced terms and possibly not as a marquee player. If Catalans are willing to match or beat his current Wigan deal that could be too tempting for him.

He's already won trophies at Wigan and has played in the NRL. His next move might be whichever deal can set his young family up for a good few years to come. It's a short career for RL players and family comes first so common sense says to take the biggest offer at this stage - then there's also the option of doing something you might not get the chance to do again.

With the Hardaker rumour circling I think there maybe something in this ?.Sam is supposedly on a big wedge so could possibly free up cash for Hardaker and one other,or maybe give Bateman extra cash to stay ?

We have cash available - MM and FPN's salary, at the end of the season we are going to have more cap available when we lose players. Sam's salary only counts for £75k against the cap.

Very strange that this has come out just before we play Catalans? Disruptive or what?
The sooner Sam/Waney/Leneghan comment on this the better.
As usual, it's all about money and enhanced contracts + increased Agents fees.
How many times do we hear that " X is going to Club Y" then the said player increases his salary!
Personally, I think Sam T would be crazy to move to Catalans.

Sam is a class player but not nearly as good as he was a few seasons ago so is it all down to money

It is not germane to the rumour

Sky sports is saying that Sam is likely is be joining Catalan next season now.
With either Zak or Morgan being Wigan FB next season
