The problem I have wi5 his reaction is it is obvious bullshit. He could have said something like we gave Hull the opportunity to win the game and they took it. That would be more realistic assessment while crediting Hull for doing so. Banging on about them being outstanding is ridiculous and makes it sound like we were beaten by a superb team.

Totally agree.

I wouldn't read too much into post match comments, whether they are from interviews or the press conference. It's about answering questions without really giving too much away. The best thing to do is always praise the other team and be magnanimous.

I'm pretty sure Peet will have absolutely ripped into the team after that performance and it's what he instills in the players that matters.

I think you're being harsh on Matty.
He's asked for his views only minutes after the final whistle and although in shock after what's unfolded in front of him he's expected to give a measured and controlled response. I've listened to it once and I was ok at the time. OK maybe after three days I'm thinking it wasn't a perfect response but I do think it wasn't the wrong approach that has been suggested. I'm sure MP said what we could expect after seeing such a collapse which he certainly never saw coming.

The difficult bit for Matty is reviewing the game with his asst coaches and players and putting right what obviously went wrong v Hull. It was a bad loss but they all now have to go forward to the next match.

Leeds will be a different proposition on their home ground and MP together with them all will have a real job on their hands to turn that around.
This Wigan squad is well capable of beating Leeds, getting matters right in the coming days is the challenge for Headingly that Matty and his charges have to master.
