I wonder whether we've paid the remainder of Moran's contract, or got out out of it under the trades descriptions act? After all, we signed him on the understanding that he was a Scrum Half.
Cruel GeoffN cruel.

Our salary cap is at 1.8m for the fist time.
Last year we ran at 1.6m
We have a first team squad of only 26.
yours in nearer 35!!

Indeed. Dobson will be wearing #37. Effectively, we're paying 10 players at < £20k instead of Radlinski's £200k (estimated) wages.

Last season I was calling for drastic action as regards the "management" of the cap and was constantly told of the impossibility of this.
At last the penny seems to have dropped I only hope it is in time. :conf:

Despite what fans of many other clubs seem to think Wigan stick by the rules as regards the salary cap.
The club does not even use the off shore payment mechanism to boost overseas players earnings as they consider it liable to be subject to tax from the Indland Revenue soon.
So I don't think we will exceed the cap this season even having paid Moran off. His wage was budgeted for in the cap anyway and Rads salary will go a long way given the number of players we must have signed who earn less than £20K a year.
We also only have to play Dobson half a seasons wages so if we pay him £35K which is equivalent to £70K for the season the club won't have a £70K hit on the salary cap.

Can't be bothered to go through all my permutations of yesterday but I reckon we could have around £80K left and one 20/20 spot to fill. That's a lot of money for half a season. Expect a new arrival (Johnson at centre?). :doz:
