thats it not drinking again were are all theses moderators this is persnal abuse you know im only joking rob ,but did no 1 else have a drink there were at least 10 of us there who had drunk as much as me and cant see them getting any stick

Believe it or not, we don't just make things up as we go along. As I've said elsewhere, this isn't a public free-for-all, the site is owned by someone who has his own ideas about what he wants to see on here. He decided a while ago that he wanted some people to help maintain order and common sense on here, and so appointed us moderators. We've come up with some idea of what we think is appropriate, with the site owner's agreement, and our actions are based on those decisions. If we were not keeping to the spirit of what the site owner intended, I'm certain he would contact one or all of us to ask us to be more relaxed, or indeed to more be more strict about certain things. As it is, unless I'm told otherwise by Mike then I'm going to continue to monitor this board as I have been doing for a couple of years now.

The fact that comments like yours are far far far fewer in number than the positive comments suggests to me that we've got the balance right.

I'd probably agree there - there seem to be more complaints about undue "leniency" rather than "heavy-handedness".
Fair enough, yes, we can ignore obvious trolling, but a good troll (Like Horsey, for example) is harder to detect!
I hate having to trawl through countless threads about Latics, RU, schools etc, to find out which threads are relevant.

It's become a bit easier for me now I can see more information about users. Mr Horsey's email address gave him away straight away, but I was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt to see how long it would take him to give himself away. Having wafc as part of your email address is a bit of a giveaway! Similarly, those people who register with several usernames but the same email address are also easier to spot, especially when we have blocked one user id for that individual.

He has an interesting email address, but not obviously a Latics troll. He occasionally provides entertainment, but his constant repetition of the same old thing whilst ignoring any questions or challenges to his point of view is tiring. But he rarely actually contravenes any of the rules. Being a Latics fan or Saints fan or whatever is not against the rules, so long as people behave and contribute sensibly.
