I don't know if you noticed tonight but it took what looked like a committee to decide whether to kick for two points or not.

In particular in the second half there was one where Dobson (I think) was looking round waiting to be told what to do.

We had this problem last season when Rads was captain and in fact have had it since Farrell left.

This particular critism of poor captaincy, meaning examples like the one I site above - the committee meeting over what do do with penalties, is not something I expect Joynt and others ever had a problem with.

Jamie Peacock never says a dicky bird but Bradford were the 2nd most successful under him. It all depends on what you expect as a captain. I think the fact that we have always had vocal captains at Wigan is probably influencing people's decision on this. Then again, maybe not....

Do you honesty think Lockers is leading the team on the pitch? If leading by example is the qualification then Dallas has been Wigan captain for years and we never knew.

Saying he would not pay another club off isn't saying a lot because it was a stupid rumour. The fact it got attension from Sky and the press is ridiculous.

His relative silence on the other implausable ideas on how we may avoid going down is all the conspiracy theorist need to fan the flames of these equally daft ideas IMO.

This was printed in the News of the World currently the highest selling newspaper in the UK (approx. 4 million copies)

He wasn't silent on other issues, he stated that if we finish bottom we deserve to go down as the worst club in the league and that Wigan would never stoop as low as trying to pay off other clubs. He went on to say that decisions by the RLFC were out of Wigans control and the club had no influence on these.

Which is what I meant about fanning the flames of the conspiracy theorists.

If you read this thread back people have hinted that because he didn't put this one to bed as well as the daft rumour about buying off the promoted side, then maybe te league/SL will do us a favour.

Because he didn't say they would not expand the league to 13 or 14 teams people are taking this to mean he expects them to do so.

I don't know why because Lewis had said it aint happening.

My view on his interview was thank goodness that he said what he did.

He brought some credibility to the club and boy do we need that. Every single word he said was correct, he choose his words well.

Something has been done right for once, just get rid of Lindsay now and we can start again.

How much say does Richard Lewis actually have in this? He's Chairman of the RFL, but not of Superleague. If the board of SLE (the clubs, and presumably Sky have a voice in that as well) make a decision about expanding or some other rule, does Lewis have the power of veto over their decisions, or would he be told to mind his own business and look after BARLA / the international game / sorting out low attendances at Challenge Cup game etc?

Whilst I take your point about Joynt and the others not having this problem, it was a bit different for Wigan when Faz was in charge, given that he was the one doing the kicking so he'll have had to make a judgeement about whether a penalty was kickable or not, before considerations about whether tactically it was the best thing to do.

But I also think responsibility for the kicking duties are a but muddled at the moment. After that first try, Tickle went over to set the ball up for the kick then Dobson went over to kick it himself, and then kept that responsibility for the rest of the night. Should decisions about who was kicking not have been made before the game?

What I’ve been told for what its worth is Sky are concerned about us not being in Super League and have made their views known. I must go on to say they are not very concerned but just concerned. I believe they have expressed that Wigan should stay up.
