BBC Radio Manchester Rugby league hour. It was talking about Salford and sayin they were having a good season with the second lightest pack in SL. Only Wigan have a smaller pack.
funny this because when wigan played saints it was said on sky that they both had the biggest packs in super league is someone using different scales.
Long time no see Heydude.
This thread should be re-named "pack not good enough".
Being serious for a moment, there is some truth in this, particularly when we were playing Hargreaves and Prescott. Danny Hill is also definitely a lightweight too.

hi jimmy
yeah i'm a very busy man been trying to find a rope with loop in the end and a nice chair to fall off for the end of the season.
Logan was hit by Fakir the centre just mopped up the leftovers. No way is our 1st choice pack the lightest in the league. And since when was the benchmark for a prop 80 minutes? Only Fielden does that, and that will only be for a 2-3 year period in his career.

Totally agree with CP'S comments about the mobility of the pack. This is where we have been weak for the past two seasons and it has shown.Feka is very heavy and flat footed and would cause all sorts of havoc near the line but beating a man with foot work is where he and logan have been lacking IMO.As for the second rows Fletcher for me is looking his age and IMO will not be at Wigan next year i think he was signed as stop gap and to add some experience but his serious illness before the season started hasnt heleped him, The only player for me who is playing above himself is Hock, i was one of the doubters about this guy coming back from such a serious injury and being effective, but i am glad to say he has proved me wrong.
I can see your point about Logan and Feka lacking agility, when compared to say Fielden, but our forwards are a massive improvement on last season. We're making more metres up the middle of the park, we could make more if they ran a little deeper I suppose. Fletcher has been making a few mistakes but we suffer when he is off the field. Hock has come back better than ever, fresher and stronger and O'Loughlin's workrate is massive.
The common factor to Wigan's poor form seems to be lack of confidence (no backing up, etc.), making daft mistakes (knock-ons in our own 20) and giving away field position through daft penalties. Fix the errors, the confidence would come and we'd be a decent side.
For me, this will be the area Nobby will be looking to tackle ( no pun intended ) asap. He's built his reputation on teams of size & power from 1 - 13 in years gone by & at the moment, we seem to be lacking both.
As for the tackling, I sometimes think the art of tackling round the legs at Wigan is long gone. I read somewhere that forwards are coached to collision tackle from an early age - hit the opposing player high ( chest etc ) to attempt to dislodge the ball. Perhaps that would explain the poor tackling techniques that seem to be so prevelant throughout the game these days......
all's well in the world now that Mr Fielden is here!!! size does help but just look at fielden, he's not the biggest but he is an 80 minute prop (which is rare) & and constantly breaks defences & breaks people with his defence ... GET IN!!! well done messrs noble/whelan/lindsey for this super signing!!
Yes its big enough... Logan, Feka, Fletcher and Feilden... i would either place Fletcher back at second row and replace tickle and place feilden at prop to replace Seu Seu and syill play Feka as a Impact player!
IMO our props are not making a ground or breaks is because our attack is so flat. fekka and logan should be in at second receiver to build up momentum before hitting the ball. if our forwards stood a little deeper and run onto the ball the breaks will come. use a flat attack near opponents line not our own half :with:
