That match was a great spectacle for anyone watching and I can't believe a potential fan is going to say "let's not watch this because there's a short stoppage for a potential head injury".... It's not going to kill the game. Its a small difference in how the game is being played now compared to a few years before, and it can be modified by tweaking the rules if it we need to.

I’m getting concerned at the number of times he’s trying this. Watching the game back it’s becoming a regular thing and I think the coaching staff need to address his technique or he will pick up ban somewhere along the line.
He was lucky to have been playing v Penrith.

Stats eh? Useful as a general guide but take away the yards Dupree made after the chargedown and it's a bit of a different story overall.

True though. By the way he made 11 tackles and didn’t miss any. I am not sure why you are singling him out. We win as a team and lose as a team and we won.

Only commented because when Dupree came, within a few matches he looked as good as any of our forwards. He doesn't now and I don't know why. Could be injury or illness but I want to see him back at his rampaging best for the good of the team.
As for the team, it's always possible to have a convincing victory and for one player not to play well (wasn't the case on Friday) but the thing that makes Wigan the team they are is that when they lose, they work out why and change things and when they win, they still try and improve.
Always want the best for the team like all supporters.

I thought he played well on Friday the problem is that he wasn’t on the field for long periods. Anyway, thankfully, the game plan worked out.

It's about time the RFL did something about it before it kills the game. Take the cameras away and they get up and play the ball. I can't see Lomax playing next week his arms will be too sore, all that waving above his head.

One of the biggest issues in the game now imo.

Players are going down/holding their heads more in order to stop play, which inevitably leads to a replay of the incident on the screen.

Even if not hurt the player knows it "can't do any harm", and perhaps is even instructed to do so by the coaches?

Couple this with the physio's running onto the pitch every couple of minutes and the game is becoming too open to manipulation. The Thompson incident was a classic example.

Saints were playing on this a lot in that match - in fact i saw welsby physically push one of his players back down who was trying to get up as if to say "let them watch the replay"

personally i think go with a challenge system and make the ref the focal point and if a team feel aggrieved challenge it. I also see absolutely no value in slow mo replays for tackles they give a false sense of impact and a false sense of the timing in which you can physically move your body and react. When you're an 18 stone bloke running at full tilt its very difficult to change direction once committed - if it isnt clear at full speed to the naked eye then it isnt bad enough to be a problem

a general observation plus also picking up on a comment from a Saints fan on RL fans

Saints only used 1 of their subs (just checked it was 1 until 74th minute when a 2nd sub was used)
On here, quite a few have complained about how poor our subs were

is it possibly because of the intensity of the game, and it was difficult to come from cold on the bench to try and pick up the pace immediately? I'm no expert but could be a possible explanation.

there's no doubt our bench was better than Saints, and thats probably why Wellens never used his bench as very little experience on there

and strangely Matty only spelled Dupree, with Byrne, Mago and Hill, all rotating and then Junior went off for Walters

In fairness to Smith, he wasn't responsible for the tip tackle on the Saints fullback, it was Keighran. Smith grabbed the right leg but the lift was minimal. It's the lift of the left leg from Keighran that led to the dangerous tackle.
