We have paid around 250k for each decent performance over 3 years, having given him infinite medical support, even though his second season ending injury was self inflicted. A better man than him would hold his hand up and admit that he owes something to the club. His past behaviour suggests he cares most of all about his wallet and filling it for the minimum effort.

When he was at his best, he was angling for a move to union. When their interest fell away, he quickly took the money (despite how rubbish the team was) and ran to the NRL. Having spent most of 2 years driving his fancy car, his next move was to fill his boots with our money to come home.

Whenever faced with a choice between manning up and money, he has chosen money. I can only see one outcome and his choice of destination - rubbish side with a party culture - exactly matches his choice of the Warriors. His career has been a lesson in greed and career cowardice. Too poorly to play against Barba? Yeah, right.

Think there is some truth in the rumours but can’t get hung up on Sam being still in France. He openly said a few months back on social media that a travel company had cancelled his family trip to Perpignan and tried to charge him double to rebook.
Can you blame him if a big offer comes in?

Sam has been a great player for us, maybe not as good as he was but he has given his all when he’s played.
Rugby is a short career and I can understand why he will follow the money.
Clubs go through this, players moving for the wrong reasons, bad attitude, money but we have to move on. We’ve seen great players go in the past and it won’t be the last...

Wasn't there something before the start of the season about the club having developed a new 3-year strategy that was going to impact all areas of the club? If so, some clues about what that strategy is would be helpful.

On the playing side we've had the 'team of home grown Wigan talent' strategy, the 'we need bigger forwards to compete' strategy, the 'we do it differently with smaller, faster forwards strategy' and now apparently the 'we let go our most competitive, creative outside back and best goal-kicker and double the salary of our least creative outside back' strategy. As DaveO says, from the outside looking in, it's strategically bonkers. We need Sam.

What a difference a season makes, last year the majority of fans were criticising Sam and wanted rid. Now, the majority of the fans want the club to resign him no matter what the cost. What a set of fickle supporters we have at Wigan!

We are not party to all the goings on and we have to trust that the club get this right, if we don't agree then we can vote with our feet. Obviously, from IFL's point of view he needs to get it right as it could damage his significant investment.
