Genuine question from the game on Saturday. Not sure at what time Matty made the change in the 1st half, but Hampshire went off, Eckersley on and Keighran into 6
did it work? i know the negative answer is no because we got beat, but genuinely, was there any improvement in either the way we moved the ball, defended where Hampshire was previously?
i've seen posters calling for Keighran at 6 for a couple of weeks and i'm unsure whether that is the answer or not - happy to be convinced either way
Hampshire got an arm injury. But given we got beat itβs hard to tell especially as Adam hasnβt played much at 6 for us.
Hoping for a surprise when the team is announced
Cheers Josie
i noticed Eckersley on the pitch and immediately thought Field must have gone off, but saw him pretty quickly so it took me a minute to work out the change
It would be nice, but can we afford 2 star players not 100% fit. I'd rather wait another week if its touch and go, and give him every chance to play the week after

I don't think that was the game to really judge any player really. Keighran struggled to chase down Rhys Martin's break for the first try and while he's not rapid he's not slow either. He looked knackered right from the start.
I would be one of those in favour of Keighran playing in the halves though. He was a halfback as a junior, played a fair amount in the halves and centre before coming to Super League. He played some games for Catalans in the halves last season and looked good. For me he's much more natural playing on the left edge so having him replace Smith on the left side would be my preferred option.
Ideally Bevan French returns soon to partner him, but if not I'd say it's a choice between Hampshire and Farrimond (with Leeming another possible option if Forber is fit enough to play long minutes).

I just watched the full game. Which wasn't much fun. Leeds were sharper and better in every department. Defence and discipline both poor, and I wasn't surprised to see MP for once visibly annoyed by that.

Actually, was anyone else surprised to see Matty Peet reacting so strongly to a bad scrum play in the first half at 0-0? I was and the commentary team were too. I'm probably reading too much into it, but I've not seen Peet react like that before especially early in a game. He seems a bit rattled and he does coach from a position of fear. I hope this is a learning experience and not a sign of weakness in the coaching team. You learn more from a loss than from any victory

I may be stepping into dangerous territory here, but does anyone else think Wigan players (and skipper) could do with treating the officials with a bit more courtesy? Faz always seems sullen, and seldom makes eye-contact with the ref when he's talking to him. Staying on the right side of the ref is just common-sense; some skippers do it very well.

No I agree while sone refs seemingly come across a bellends they, for the most part do get it right and to me an important part of any team is as you say being courteous to the man in the middle, something has slipped into wigans game this season in this regard ot needs stopping sooner rather than later

i think generally the players are fine with refs, but Harry Smith in particular in multiple games this year has questioned the ref. he was at it quite early in the game at weekend and has shown a little petulance when it hasnt been going right for him
we all know that the ref is always right, and unlikely to ever change a decision, certainly not off the back of a player questioning him, however, as captain, Faz has the right to speak to the ref, and perhaps say his piece i.e. they are getting away with messing around the the potb, slowing our play down, but you are pinging us etc etc. Depending on the ref, they may take no notice, but it may just get into the refs head, and he speeds up our potb (note this is just an example of what could be said)

I like how you always reply with a sarcastic comment to me when I reply to your posts but when one of the guys mention your posts you seem to go quiet!
