Wane to go
Re: Wane to go
I can tolerate not winning if we do not have the players but the bottom line is we do.

So can I but we have been underachieving with this squad, probably down to what's between the ears?

Totally agree!!Wandering Warrior wrote:All this can't expect to win pots all the time is a load of rubbish!
Leeds expect to win stuff, Saints do so why shouldn't every Wigan fan?
We claim to be the most famous RL club in the World and set the trend.
Why then are we content to be second best?
I want Wigan winning pots every year and the next one is long overdue!!!!!

Do we really though?cpwigan wrote:I can tolerate not winning if we do not have the players but the bottom line is we do.
Centre has been a big problem this year with Gelling/Sarginson/Gildart in comparison to other big teams.
Matty Smith has not performed well this year.
Mossop and Tomkins have been disappointing in the forwards.
Lockers hasn't been anywhere near his best this year.
Sam Powell isn't Wigan standard, neither is Tautai and Patrick hasn't been used to his potential.
I think at times we may have the rose tinted specs on. I constantly look at Saints squad/starting 13 and do not see very many players I rate, but they are constantly up there at the top year on year.

Look at the other squads Nathan and then say ours is not stronger than any bar possibly Leeds.nathan_rugby wrote:Do we really though?cpwigan wrote:I can tolerate not winning if we do not have the players but the bottom line is we do.

If I were an opposing coach I would not see any out and out strike player in the side next year perhaps with the exception of Tomkins if he returne fit and well.

And George Williams, who, if he had a more dynamic half playing alongside him would be horrible to defend against. As is stands defences can manipulate where he receives the ball due to smith never asking questions of the opposition defence.Second Row wrote:If I were an opposing coach I would not see any out and out strike player in the side next year perhaps with the exception of Tomkins if he returne fit and well.

I have to agree with most of that really I think one of our biggest errors this season was sending better players out on loan and bringing in Patrick and Tautai who wouldn't get in the Leigh team IMO.nathan_rugby wrote:Do we really though?cpwigan wrote:I can tolerate not winning if we do not have the players but the bottom line is we do.

If I am a defender and Smith catches the ball, I am just going to anticipate he catches, runs a little and passes. He doesn't take the ball close enough to the line to hold back defenders, draw defenders and ask questions. The booze hound wrote:And George Williams, who, if he had a more dynamic half playing alongside him would be horrible to defend against. Now if George is first receiver he is going to ask the question and suck players into him, when he flings it out of the back to a ball running 6 there will be more space.
