Gaskell : no thanks ,
Finch must be retained , as for a replacement for Tommy then Gaskell is not the answer , if we are looking for someone with his age and experience then Mellor might aswel be given the nod , IMO I believe we could do with a bit more of an experienced head ,

I reckon Gaskell could be a great signing for the long term but I would be very disappointed if the club didn't pull out all the stops and get Finchy signed up for another season at least. I'll happily admit that I was very critical of him last season and thought he was very poor on many occasions but his form this season is superb. He has settled in now and is living upto his reputation, the guy is simply class. If Wigan have the opportunity to get his services for another season then i'm all for it. If the stains come sniffing for him then Wigan should tell them to p*** right off.
As for Soward coming over here, i'd be very surprised. I can't see any Super League clubs having any chance of having enough on the salary cap to get his signature. Clubs could probably sign 2 or 3 decent players for the money he would cost.

Could the delay in any agreement with Finchy be that he's waiting to see who his half back partner would be for next season? I know that money is important but players need to feel that the club will be competing for trophies too.

If that is the case, I can't see Stains being an attraction!

If Finch was to go to teapot park and Gaskell was to be offloaded as part of it, should Gaskell be of interest to WWRLFC.

You'd have to ask, is he so much better than Mellor or Powell? 2 more years of Finch might well see Williams & Hampshire breaking through!

Very good point KW.
I dont get to see the U'20's so not seen much of Powell, Williams or Hampshire, but Mellor hasnt impressed me that much to be honest. Maybe another season at Widnes will bring him on, hopefully.
Lets hope we can keep hold of Finchy.

I don`t think Finchy will go anywhere. I think he has fitted in and will want to finish his career at Wigan.(unless Madge gives him a call to join him at Sth Sydney STORM

Finchy is not really a mover. He got no choice and had to go to Melbourne and then had to leave due to well documented issues.

Hmm ? Nice if he stays but should be irrelevant to the team dynamic.
Elite culture in place - Each man knows his job on the field & each replacement knows their job and the need to step up.
NOT idealistic - Just FACT if you're to remain on top
BTW - Hope you stay Brett - You'd be wasted on the dark side
