Hyped, overseas, (regardless of what the idiot in charge of England thinks)overpriced, off-field issues, big ego, maverick, big fish/small pond player?
The last thing that we need in the team is a Dennis Moran vintage 2012

Matthew. Get off the fence. Rangi Chase, yes or no?

RANGI CHASE could be about to become rugby league’s most expensive player.
Warrington have had a bid of
£300,000 for the Castleford star turned down.
But Wigan are set to make a play for Chase, while Hull have also made an enquiry.
The world record transfer fee is
£440,000 paid by Wigan for prop Stuart Fielden in 2006.
England star Chase, 26, who is part of the squad for Saturday’s match against the Exiles, is current Man of Steel after a superb 2011 with Castleford.
And the Warriors have made him their top target as they look to replace Brett Finch, who is returning to Australia at the end of the season.
Chase signed a four-year deal at Castleford last autumn.

The worst part of that article is being reminded that we paid £440,000 for Stuart Fielden!

He has also been a very large fish in a very small pond at CAS and stands out, millward has/is trying to change that but to do that he feels he may have let chase go, so he has a team rather than a stand out individual.
Strangely enough when I said this about Barrett I got slated. I think I have been proved correct. We are a far better team now.
For Chase to succeed at Wigan he needs the respect of the players. They have a lead to follow. I would rather have Dobson. Same with Sam he is electric but nobody and that includes the team know what happens next. No1 is Sams position. 6/7 have to sping a set play. Naturals in those positions set up a chain reaction which is automatic. From Finch especially you can see this happen. Remember when he came everybody was on his back. Once he clicked the magic began. Chase would be handy but we could do better. Jim

A team is about balance, halfbacks are about balance.
We are losing Tommy who is an unconventional HB whose strength is not passing but taking the line on.Limited kicking skills. Great defender.
We are losing Finchy who is a classic general HB with great passing skills and a decent kicking game. He is a great defender.
Smith is a classic HB with passing / organising skills and very good kicking skills, possibly place kicking too. Not seen enough of his defence to comment.
Chase is a real danger taking the line on. He has an excellent kicking game incl place kicking. His defence seems ok, need to see more to be honest.
It is then up to Powell to dislodge / surpass Smith and Mellor likewise Chase
If you had the choice would you prefer to see Chase or kev Brown or Ben Roberts at Wigan? That was the choice. Incidentally, Roberts wanted double what Wigan would pay him. Likewise, Brown wanted plenty. No HB comes cheap (supply / demand). Hence Wigan were quite happy to pay Finchy what he wanted.

I'd rather have Danny Brough, and I don't particularly want him, but that is because I doubt he'd fit in with the discipline at Wigan, as a player I'd pick him over Chase every time.
