Well done to WIGAN Athletic on reaching the FA cup final.

I hope you can win it & stay up in the Premier League :)

If I had to choose, PL safety :)
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Heart says FA cup Glory, but head says PL survival and financial security for Latics as Leneghan has pointed out at the fans forums that Latics staying in the PL is beneficial to us.

I've always made that point to Latic's haters that we benefit from their Sky money!

I have read somewhere recently that there will be a 'Golden Umbrella' for PL Clubs relegated - £60M over 4 years. (I'm assuming this starts end of this season)
This might affect their approach to Wembley.
If Wigan get to Wembley will this be unique i.e. same town in both Finals? The only City/Town I can think of that might have done this are Leeds.
Answers on a postcard please!! :D :D :D

An interesting viewpoint, but I cannot see why or how we could benefit given that the stadium, the football club, and the rugby club are all separate businesses.

Could you explain how this is the case?

Our fee for using the DW is kept very low because the PL funds Whelan / Latics receive enables it to be so. No PL, higher fees.

I'm guessing CPW's answer is the correct reason. IFL was the one who signed the lease agreement when he bought the club so he knows the figures, so if he says Latics in the Premiership is beneficial to the Warriors then I'll believe him.

The stadium contract/ownership changed recently.

I would assume contracts relating to the lease and such change depending on circumstances, so if Latics went down the Warriors board would need to contribute a higher percentage.

It won't be a great deal more as the lease fee is under £200k. With (3 years of) parachute payments and general income Latics would make circa £25m-£30m, down from the £50m-£60m in the Premiership. If parachute payments end without promotion, Latics would be looking at making £10m-£15m in the Championship.
