Having just watched the Wigan TV interview with Wane, fair do's. He is far more realistic.

It was no thriller, in truth, but at the end of the day we restricted Leeds to 8 points on their own mud-heap, and got the win. So I'll settle for that. :D

Not the best game ive seen but we hung in there and won.Sam, Isa, Bateman were outstanding with Faz and Tommy always dangerous.Sadly our halves were shcking again, I do believe if we had had Myler and Moon instead of Williams and Powell we would have won in a canter.

DaveO wrote:Comments from both coaches courtesy of the BBC:

Leeds coach Brian McDermott told BBC Radio Leeds: "It was an error-ridden game and I didn't think there was much from both teams in attack.

"I thought we were great defensively for the majority of the game but we went 8-0 up and started playing crazy, started defending differently and we started to back off, allowing Wigan to go 70 metres per set.

"I'm really disappointed we lost but our task, next time we're in that situation, is to be better managing a tight game."

Wigan coach Shaun Wane told BBC Radio Manchester: "This team will never give up, they will always keep fighting and they know how to win big games.

"This is a touch place to come and we've not got a great record here but to turn up and play the way we did was an outstanding effort.

"I thought there were a few good performances but Sam Tomkins was outstanding. I'm happy with the way we ground out the win."

Mr Wane seems to be under the impression we played well. Mr McDermott seems to agree with the vast majority of opinions I have seen in places like Rlfans and the A&L facebook site.
DaveO Mcdermott didnt say that in the after match. Hewas his usual self

He said - wigan where one dimensional. Leeds lost because at 8-0 up the stuck their heads up there backside and that it was a boring game of rugby to watch. And then that the streaker was the most entertaining part.

He is a arrogant sod and yeh the game was great but he just cant give credit to other top 4 teams.

I enjoyed it. There was some great defence. Which isn’t flashy but made it tense. The way we built momentum and speed as the second half wore on was superb.
We went to Leeds and won, and we haven’t done that for a very long time. Looked like we came through unscathed, and have already shown we can score brilliant tries when it clicks, so normal service will be resumed on that front pretty soon.
I see very little for doom and gloom about. Sometimes games are attritional - it was far higher standard of play than the Widnes - Hull game.

Oh, and in another reason to be cheerful, we lie second having been to Wire, Leeds and Saints (and Catalans) already, with only Cas and perhaps Hull FC being difficult away games to come before the split. We are far far ahead of where we were last year.
