Surely a legend is somone who stays in your memory once there initial fame has gone
No it is not. Tis is a player you had particular fondness of.
Due to the fact that somone has mentioned him
Still doesn't meet requirements
others agree fulfil the criteria for LEGEND
You are all wrong I'm afraid.
Try reading about Murphy, Millward, Lewis, Hanley, Sullivan or even Offiah. There is loads of subject matter out there of players that have held records of scoring or longevity performed miracle feats of bravery in the international arena, whatever, use your imagination, but please remember more than one pass!!

Inga was good, but just a rugby league blip. Famous in RL for being a big name signing from union.

Jees i am only 28 Hanly and Offiah i remember yes maybe a little of the rosy coloured glasses but what he did with the young lads at the club and the improvements in proffessionalism should be comended.I get your point about longevity and stats but the buzz from the crowd when he had the ball was amazing.I just wish we could find his modern day equivalent now.You still havent answered my question about fans remembering players and still rating them once they have gone and what i stated before.

He knew nothing of league and when he arrived at Wigan he was an amateur. WE coached him and WE made him a pro.

I have.
You have a particular fondness of Inga and you are not on your own - but never a legend, unless you are also calling players like Scott Quinnell Legends!!

Stop being so narrow minded. Inga was a legend before coming into League. Quinell was crap.

Cheers gimble i thought i was alone in this view.It wouldnt have changed my mind but it is nice to know it isnt just my particular fondness for him.We just need to sign some more untrained unproffessional union players if the result is the performance this guy delivered up to us.

What the guy fails to realise is that Inga is likely the most decorated rugby player the world will ever see.

Not only did he win everything up here he could but won every medal available to him in union excpet a Zurich League winners or the equivelant then.
Also he won the inagural 89 Union World Cup.

This is true. I remember Shaun Edwards verbally trashing him during a match becuase he came in from the wing in defence and giving the opposition an overlap. This was schoolboy stuff.
That being said he learned quick and I thought became a truly fantastic centre. His ball skills were second to none. His ability to take on three and four defenders and then flick the ball out was superb.
Shouldn't have played at Wembely instead of JAson Robinson that time but all in all... yeah I'd go legendish. Wish he was playing centre now instead of those two donkeys that have been messing about the last few weeks.
Do not kid yourself he was not an amaetur. Most if not all the Southern Hemsphere sides in the 80's were pro. Not officially but they were. They were given sponsorship money and employed by agencies from within the clubs to carry out heavey work like open a supermarket or personnal apperances.

Inga was a pro in union in all but name.
