BUT - given the choice of Cleary for a couple of seasons or Smith for potentially the rest of his career (I think he could genuinely be a one club man), I'd probably stick with Smith.

The idea of seeing Cleary in a Wigan kit and leading the lads around is an amazing thought, but Smith isn't exactly crap and IMO is one of the best 7s in SL right now. My long term brain just won't let me go short term enough to go with Cleary on this one.

I'll gladly eat my words if he comes and stays for 3+ seasons :lol: :lol:

When has a top Australian player at the peak of his career, ever gone from the NRL to SL (for more than a season)? I can't think of one (I'm not counting the likes of Jamie Lyon or Brett Kenny). And of course things were a bit different in the days of 'winter rugby'.
