Dallas seemed to be holding his left hamstring. Just have to wait and see, I suppose. At least we get a week off now. Fielden looked to be carrying an injury too, I thought (and didn't seem to be on the pitch as long as usual, although it was difficult to keep track of all the substitutions).

Warrington over the last few years has been a bad place for getting cheated. Knock on for the first try, an attempted tackler obstructed for the second one, and the penalty. let's not go there. Silverwood was right on top of it and gave a knock against them. The fact that we didn't get a single penalty for off side or not being square tells a story too.
We're still not quite cute enough in the final 20 though. We're not getting enough points when that close.
Grumbles - O'Loughlin. I'm sorry, but I don't see why he gets defended the way he does on here. Too many penalties given away, often for going too high. Sort it out. Poor handling when 10 metres from the line early on. Not a good enough player and lousy choice as captain.
Calderwood - the way he let his man get free for their final try was awful, though he put Ashton in the clear well later on.
McAvoy's dreadful knock on under our posts was costly. Just cannot fathom mistakes like that.
Not having Richards on the bench hurt us too when losing Dallas. Hamstring, so at least 3 weeks for him and it may be the end.
I think its time for Richards to prove himself. He is world class and the opertunity now Knocks.
I was at the match crushed like a sardine amongs a hot and steaming crowd. I heard the comments about that penalty on the Radio. But I feel Briers awarded that penalty to Warrington. His persistant complaining through out the match paid off.
THE LINES MAN DID NOT FLAG WHEN SILVERWOOD BLEW THE WHISTLE.The linesman only decided to get involved after Briers started winging and moaning. Usually with a strong ref you get a 10 meter advantage for this type of winging but Wolves they get a penalty. I dispair

Briers has long been very near the top of my most hated player's list and today was s hining example of why. He is always asking the referee for penalties, which I would have assumed was reason for having a penalty given against you.
It is especially galling to have a penalty given for off side as I believe it was the only one for the offence all match. Warrington rarely bothered getting back as far as the referee at the play the ball.
Everything about Briers annoys - the appealing, the time wasting and even the way he is yards on to the pitch for his drop outs. I'm sure it must be his idea to have the water carrier come on and obstruct our players. That bloke spends more time on the pitch than the props.

I thought that he had run it off but then he ran the ball back and his leg just gave way. He couldnt run. I hope that its not to serious! I think that Fielden left the pitch half way through the first half and come back on just after half time. I thought that it was strange as he hardly ever leaves the field in the second half never mind the first.

It's not a flagable offence and we've no idea whether the TJ was having a word in the referees ear.
Personally I think the referee did listen to the Warrington players complaints (not just Briers, the majority of them). However, we can't complain, this happened in our favour against Wakefield, the referee thought Ashton had knocked the ball dead, we complained and he got it checked and we got the 20 m optional kick.

It was a very odd game in that we could have won without playing well which I think is quite a step forward. We gifted Warrington the first 20 minutes. I disagree with you Rob re referees. I am convinced that every referee is getting fatigued as the game progresses and that as fatigue sets in they give less decisions and some make more mistakes. My impression is that referees award far more penalties in the first 20/30 minutes and that the team that controls possession in that period will gain a huge advantage. I would be interested to see the stats for when referees award penalties. Loughlin got pulled for a head high that was no worse than many much later and far less severe than a Ben Westwood shot on Logan (logan swung off at him after it).
I do think we overplay sometimes and one of Nobles traits has been to get rid of that. Steady building of pressure is all that is required. I think rugby league players nowadays are developed physically in such a way that it becomes difficult for them to maintain endurance for repeat set after set. Both sets of players were gasping when asked to do that in very energy sapping conditions. I think we could do better at running our big guns at their weak guys when we are on their line too. Feka or fielden at Briers. They do not need to be put into a gap just isolted 1 v 1 with him.

My two-penneth. I thought we played poorly with very little direction or lack of following a game plan. Tackling was poor is spells and Dobson's kicking was off.
Warrington played with more conviction I thought, which is why they won.
I thought Silverwood was consistent but I didn't think he controlled the game well. I thought he was too sloppy with offsides at the play-the-ball, markers not square and slowing down the play-the-ball. He was the same for both sides.
The decision at the end was vital. I am not sure whether the decision was right, I don't think there was anyone there in the Wigan end that was looking for which of our players were in offside positions. Silverwood, when he made his final decision, signalled an offside so either Tickle making the tackle on the kicker or our man on the floor kicking the ball were deemed to be in offside positions. I'd need to see it again before I could comment either way.
Steveocod - you will be pleased though that the touch judge intervened and told the referee that one of our players was offside.
This post on this thread is the only one I sat here and nodded my head to everything I read.
As for all the others :eusa18:
I tell you that IMO it was clearly your best performance all season.
You were playing a Warrington team that are coming back towards early season form.
You played very well in attack but I still think you need to make further improvement in defence to be sure of staying up.
You did have a chance of probably winning the game but that opportunity was gifted to you on the back of 2 woefull errors by Stuart Readon that cost us 12 points and so too many unforced dropped balls that defused most of our attacking chances.
Do take heart from this result, but you clearly wasn't the better team but you did surprise me how well you have come on.
