Got anything else on your mind that isn't about the Warriors? If you do, this is the place to post.

The loyalty of Wigan rugby supporters in a nutshell. First time they get relegated (1980-81), average attendance - 4,744. Latics' attendance that season (in league divison four) - 6,701.

Wigan RL's highest ever average, including period as all-conquerung 'world' champions - 14,680.

i'm afraid you'll be waiting along time for that 20,000 average, my friend.

Last season proved we are loyal supporters, worthy of any sport. The people of Wigan are simply in love with rugby, hence large attendances, its the heritage that we fans keep going, win lose or draw, who cares? We support the Warriors, simple.

The fact that the Premiership is an overall larger competition to rugby league speaks volumes.

Latics may play man City and have 5,000 away fans... Wigan warriors may play catalans with 10 away fans... you cant make parellels with that im afraid. I know a lot of people who watch certain games at the Latics, im one of them. As I am an Arsenal supporter living up here I can't generally get tickets for the Arsenal 'away end' due to sh*** ticketing by Arsenal. But I can get a ticket for the Latics stand and happily watch the Gunners in the East stand. Im not alone, think of how many Man U fans who dont have season tickets live in Wigan, the only way they can get a ticket is getting a Latics ticket and keeping quiet. The same happens with City, Wanderers, Rovers and the scousers... people go to 1 game a year like myself when their team is in town.

You're in no position to say latics fans are better. Who cares about Wigan Athletic? not me? Im not bothered that they got to the Carling Cup final, I would only pay money to watch Arsenal there. The point is football attracts plenty more fans than rugby league. The thing you are missing is that Warriors are one of the best supported clubs in the world of rugby league and always will be, who cares if we win or lose? Growing attendances prove that.

What have Wigan Athletic ever done that is memorable?

Get back to singing 'You are my sunshine' cocker.

Why does it matter to you? - you clearly don't support Wigan RL. Your success or failure as a club has absolutely nothing to do with us (I for one couldn't care if you won every competition you entered) - as a club we make a profit; even if you think that your attendance is higher - so it's not like money is being taken away from you and given to us.

Exactly what is the point of comparing attendances? Could it be that if we were to compare the successes of the two clubs it would be a pretty one-sided argument?

Put it another way - would you be happy to see attendance fall to 5000 if it meant you won a trophy?

Does all this really matter. We are two seperate teams playing two entirely different sports who's fans have differing opinions of each others respective sport. The fans should support their home town and if they don't like the opposing sport then don't bother. We are never going to be able to rival the size of the football community whether Latics, United or Liverpool fans or whoever. But in relatve terms we are well supported and as long as we remain loyal, what does it matter how big each others attendances are?

The arrogance of a post that says, 'What have you ever done that's memorable?' is beyond belief. The story of a team that has risen from the Lancashire Combination and Cheshire Country Leagues, through alll four divisions to a top ten finish in the Premiership is unprecendented in British sport. As recently as 1993, the club was facing bankruptcy with an average attendance of 1,843; last season they averaged over 20,000. I could also mention winning the Auto-Windscreen Shield at Wembley, the Carling Cup final and the Third and Second division Championships. What exactly have Warriors done in that time besides watching Bradford, Saints and Leeds come to overshadow you?

Showing your ignorance yet again. Firstly, Latics is a much newer club than Wimbledon (established 1932, rather than 1889). Secondly, where are they now? Back in the bottom tier and playing in Milton Keynes.

As I said previously - why do you care about RL if you don't like it?

You admit that your attendance has only increased as you have progressed through the league - it will be interesting to see what happens if you start to decline. As you are only too happy to point out; we have not been as successful of late - yet our attendance is actually increasing - it will be interesting to see what happens if you are unfortunate enough to suffer a change in fortunes.

What is the point of this debate? Why is it so important to you to have a better attendance than us - if there were two soccer teams in Wigan then I could perhaps maybe see your point. Do you brag to Sunday morning football clubs in Wigan about how you get more supporters than they do?
