we went to the players entrance after we were told to leave the stand on saturday and was met by a torrent of verbal obcenities by wire fans no older that 9/10 who where just ignored by the warrington staff so what signal does this send out to them its ok to be abuse and swear at people with no one challenging them ...plus when they turn that abiuse into racsit coments and agin nothing is done what are thy going to think..
we follow the warriors home and away to every game and we see tha same old faces drunk well before the game but they enjoy themselves never seem to cause any problems(except at quins this year when one idiot was bragging how he had been drinking since 8am and decided to accept a challenge of a fight by a quins lad....who won the fight )i think its unjust to blame the younger lads for the trouble ...if you rememebr it was a middle aged saints fan who attacked a young wigan fan on her from jjb last year and a older gentleman who attacked the wigan fan at leeds just because he was singing when we beat them

the problem is the availability of alcohol during the journeys to games and at the grounds and the fact they are to young to be able to control themselves after it ...we moved from east stand to south this year for the amosphere and i must admitt the state of some of the young lads before the game you just wonder why they are allowed in in that state

but after the game on sat i was there with my 2 sons 20 and 16 and we had a great laugh with everyone and saw no aggression except from the warrington stewards who were dragging young kids down the teracing for no reason other than we were all singing they never approached the older guys just the kids one was even punched by some thug in yellow vest in front on me and my son for no reason but when i challemged him he just told me to f off and go home (not as politely)

The Warrington staff outside the ground aren't responsible for a few 9/10 year old chavs swearing at Wigan fans. It's their parents who should be ashamed

Why did he offer a fight to a 16 year old though? That's not on :conf:

You have hit the nail on the head , they should be ashamed but they have probably no idea of where they are or what they are doing and thats the real problem , I would even go as far as saying they dont really mind what they get up to and are just glad they are out .
I live on a estate I have a little lad when he plays out I normally make some excuse to be out and keep an eye on him,not just to make sure he his safe but to guide him if he does something wrong , at some point I get a rugby or football out and have a game with him and his mates they love it , the best thing you can give a child is your time but I'm afraid that happens less and less these days.

Where to begin? Fan alligence is a tribal association and tribes can clash.

I'm inclined to believe it's no worse or better than it used to be. I can remember a few incidents back in the late 80's/early 90's and the same now. I see the same really despite 20 years passing, just the people fighting don't really look like Paul Calf any more. The point is, in truth, any clashes tend to be occasional and you get some tools at any club. I'll happily take my 6 year old to most home and away matches and shortly will take my 14 month-er.

I have more issue with the constant issues about language at matches. Rugby is a passionate sport and illicits passion in people. If you can't use a bit of fruity expression at a rugby match t oencourage the ref I'll be *********. I don't swear at home but my 6 year old smilingly accepts the upper ground about her dads abusive langauge at the rugby. So in the words of the charmer 3 rows in front of me...

"Listen love, if you dont like bad language then you can f**k off. F**k off home, put sky on and watch it there. But make sure you turn the f***ing sound off in case you here anything on there as well. Okay?"

Dubs wrote:I agree that the bottling incident is disgraceful, but Wire singing anti-Wigan songs and gesticulating is not a new phenomenon. If you are genuinely offended by a group of fans giving the fingers and shouting abuse from another stand, then perhaps you should look at following bowls instead.

As I said in another post, away days at Wire now are nothing compared to 15-20 years ago. I've had to run out of Wilderspool on occasions, behind the back of Snookers Club being pelted with coins, bottles, bricks etc from the idiots coming out of the "Zoo" end before the final whistle. You literally had to leave 10 minutes before the end to avoid bother and even then there would be a "welcoming committee" on the bridge near the ground. And this was when I was a kid.

I also think it's a bit off pointing the finger solely at our kids of today - adults can be just as bad.
Was this response aimed at me? If so, where have I posted that I am offended by the behaviour of the Wire fans at HJ? I don't even go to that dump!

I will repeat my opinion for the hard of thinking. IMO the content of the singing/chanting from Wire fans as broadcast live on Sky does a disservice to RL and is damaging to the image of a so-called family sport. Has that sunk in? Do you agree or do you think their antics will enhance the reputation of out game? Who knows, maybe you are one of our disreputable element.

Finally, don't preach to me about Wire behaviour from years gone by. If you've only been going for 15-20 yrs you have some catching up to do.

Me and my two sons and a friend ( 4 of us intotal) where attacked by dozens of so called Wire fans out side the railway pub last year and my youngest son was bottled and had 8 stitches in a fore head wound that could of infact blinded him very easliy. I do not applaud violence i any way shape or form and i agree it takes a bigger man to walk away, but when you do not have a chance to walk away then what do you do -.

oh and by the way the poice did nothing about our incident

Wires fans have been the same for years

at least they got some of there own medicine recently when Hull visited town and sorted them out good style

I must pass my regrets on to our fan who was injured and i hope he recovers to full health

it is time the Rugby league took a very serious look at Warringtons policing of there games especially near the railway station and pubs on the way to after the game
Wigan is and always will be a town of Cherry & White

As an aside

Should the RFL not consider proximity of parking, amount of parking available within 1000 metres, access/distance to public transport when awarding franchises.

I say this because those of us old enough will remember that the worst time for violence at Leigh was walking back to your car with the alley ways etc The HJ has problems because parking provision is virtually non existent.

Re OAM It can be impossible. At the 2002 Final I intervened to stop 2 30 something Saints fans who were arguing with a 70+ year old Wigan fan. N.B The 70 year old was as bad as they were. However, I stood between them and difused the situation. Had it gone pear shaped I may have become part of the disturbance. Fortunately it did not.
