He has also been a very large fish in a very small pond at CAS and stands out, millward has/is trying to change that but to do that he feels he may have let chase go, so he has a team rather than a stand out individual.
Strangely enough when I said this about Barrett I got slated.
Quite rightly as well. I can't believe you are still peddling this nonsense anyway.
I think I have been proved correct.
Nope. Not in a million years.
We are a far better team now.
We are a better team because we are a better coached team not because Barrett is no longer here.

It's a great shame Barrett was here under Noble. Had we had Barrett under Madge or Wane he would have been even better. As it was it was largely due to Barrett we got as far as we did in the play-offs.

If it is true Millward wants rid of Chase for the reasons stated there are no parallels between that situation and Barrett here. Any coach would want Barrett on the team.
For Chase to succeed at Wigan he needs the respect of the players. They have a lead to follow. I would rather have Dobson. Same with Sam he is electric but nobody and that includes the team know what happens next. No1 is Sams position. 6/7 have to sping a set play. Naturals in those positions set up a chain reaction which is automatic. From Finch especially you can see this happen. Remember when he came everybody was on his back. Once he clicked the magic began. Chase would be handy but we could do better. Jim
I find it ironic that you mention people being on Finch's back (some of us were not by the way) given your never ending vendetta against Barrett.

As to Chase and the vote. There is no "don't know" choice. I can't believe we would pay £350K for him and I don't know if he would be any good here or not. I can understand why people can say Matty Smith would fit in. He will do what he is told and do his best and I can understand people wondering if Chase would be as easily coached.

At the moment the poll if 56% against. Strangely negative for this board.

Definitely not at that price, especially considering tonight's performance, however how much of that was due to having a crap coach remains to be seen.

Jim your attacks on TB do you no favours whatsoever. Ask Sam Tomkins how much TB helped him develop

You can't dismiss a player from one frankly awful performance, but Chase showed me all the bad things about his game tonight, and that was whilst playing behind an international front row with Gaz and Sam to take attention from him. He showed nothing to suggest he could come in and link with Sam in our team without a whole lot of work. Why pay that much for a player you'll have to work on.
